We held the first Virtual #ISPPAcademy on Dec 6 - a full day of engaging discussions with #politicalpsychology researchers worldwide! Huge thanks to our instructors, participants, & special shoutout to @marketao.bsky.social and Juliane Wesselman for their support 🙂

What a great initiative! I had to stop doing research on (political) culture as I wasn't able to get published. The topic was deemed too unimportant for political science! Eventually we called culture "societal values" and managed to publish one article in a journal after many rejections.

New paper out in @ScienceMagazine! In 8 studies (multiple platforms, methods, time periods) we find: misinformation evokes more outrage than trustworthy news, when it does it's shared more + ppl are less likely to read before sharing. w/ @killianmcl1 @Klonick @mollycrockett 🧵👇

New paper in @apsrjournal.bsky.social with @andreasbeerli.bsky.social, Dominik Hangartner, and Dalston Ward about #immigration and voting for the #FarRight in #Switzerland

See my new article just published in @polbehavior.bsky.social which shows that the BioNTech vaccine announcement and the subsequent positive coverage about the Turkish roots of its developers led to increasingly positive attitudes towards immigration in Germany rdcu.be/d02xO

How frequently do far-right speakers attack prevailing historical interpretations in their parliamentary speeches and what characterizes these attacks in their sentiment & content? We investigate these questions in a new paper, out open access @bjpols.bsky.social. (1/) cup.org/4hZpJVk #polisky

Happy to see our article with @michelecrepaz finally published in @RegGov_journal ! Using a survey experiment, we consider whether the effect of transparency regulations on political trust and perceptions of corruption is conditional on "who" discloses political information.

Is political science ignoring religion? YES! "While there was an increase in the number of PS articles addressing religion in the last decade, the overall proportion remained constant and the thematic scope of these publications continues to be limited."

Happy to see our article with @Millosav published in @ps_polisci📷 today 🥳 #polisci undergrads need strong research skills, but they may not always get adequate methods training. Our fix? Integrate research design basics into elective courses without sacrificing the content!

And with this group photo we conclude three days of intense but fun training at the #ISPPAcademy😊 Big thanks to our instructors and Minnie Chappell & Sev Bennett at @PolPsyISPP Central Office and @MarketaOdlova for their hard work that made this a great experience! #ISPP2023

I have witnessed some pretty terrible things in Turkey throughout my life, but nothing compares to the things we are witnessing since Monday. What is worse than the extent of destruction is the way corruption, mismanagement, and negligence are killing people every minute.
