Globalt gletschertab i nyhederne! 🥶 Denne vurdering vil blive brugt i den næste IPCC AR7. www.dr.dk/nyheder/vide... af @agnetescheel.bsky.social

The Glacier Mass Balance Intercomparison Exercise is out! Herculean effort bringing together >200 estimates of glacier loss outside the ice sheets. Bottom line is 273 gigatonnes per year of ice loss since the year 2000! 😲 Open-access article: doi.org/10.1038/s415...

@glacierbytes.bsky.social 👇 www.geus.dk/om-geus/nyhe...

Yes, THE COLOR OF ICE is being released into the wilds of the wide open internet! You can now stream our documentary open access on WaterBear Network: www.waterbear.com/watch/color-... We’re delighted to add our voices to the messages of climate urgency already curated on WaterBear! 💙

Sending 💙 to our US colleagues! 👊

If you find yourself looking for an alternative to the big scientific publishers (Elsevier, Springer, etc.), I can recommend our in-house Diamond open-access journal— for which I’m a cryosphere editor! 💎👇 geusbulletin.org ❄️🥼

“We know that the appearance of crevasses can trigger a lot of feedback for ice loss... With so many feedbacks to enhance ice loss, crevasses are poised to play a large role in the faster-than-forecast response of the ice sheet to climate change.” - @glacierbytes.bsky.social

😳 Hey scientists, perhaps time to consider activating your @eurogeosciences.bsky.social membership? Vienna is lovely in the spring.

Reflecting with @npr.org on the scientific impact of Camp Century, Greenland, as the birthplace of deep ice coring and paleoclimatology as we know it! 🤩 www.npr.org/2025/02/07/n... 🥼❄️

See @exploreice.bsky.social below, highlighting deadlines for *free* expedition opportunities for high-school girls with @inspiringgirls.bsky.social: Feb 7 for Ice Canada Feb 9 for Icy Fjords & Rock Feb 14 for Ice Switzerland & Ice Austria Feb 12 for Ice Alaska & Water Web: inspiringgirls.org

We’ve always known that crevasses are ubiquitous around the #Greenland ice sheet. Now @tomchudley.bsky.social gives us our first snapshots of them across the entire ice sheet, and it seems crevasse zones are expanding where glaciers are accelerating. That can trigger a bucket of feedbacks. 🥶⤵️

Hey All! 👋 Our project “Crevasses as indicators of ice-sheet stability” is looking for a post-doctoral fellow. We’re looking for someone with experience observing and/or modelling crevasse fracture. Advert: www.nature.com/naturecareer... (closes 16 March 2025)

I spoke with @timesofindia.bsky.social about petro-aggression, climate change, and US military history in Greenland 🌎🛢️ timesofindia.indiatimes.com/the-resource...

I just retired my X account today. Honestly, that's probably 816 days overdue, but better late than never! 😂

No, net snowfall will persist at Camp Century until at least 2100 under all IPCC climate pathways. You can check out this wonderful video explaining our work forecasting Camp Century's future: www.undergroundchannel.dk/camp-century...

Soul food for the ice enthusiast in you! 👇 ❄️🥼

A lot of folks have strong opinions about the idea of intervening to reduce Antarctic ice loss. 🥶 This seems to be one of the more balanced reads on the topic. ⤵️ ❄️🥼

Huge congratulations to the ‘Beyond EPICA’ team for pushing the ice-core reconstruction of Earth’s atmosphere back to 1,200,000 years at Little Dome C! 🥳👏 www.bbc.com/news/article...

Happy New Year! 🥳 If you're in Copenhagen this Friday evening (Jan 3rd), you can join us at the opening of Anders Graver's photo exhibit "Properties of Ice", featuring top-shelf photos from around Pituffik and Ilulissat. 👇
