The economic landscape is tough for museums, and even existing spaces are struggling. The priority has to be finding a new owner with a viable plan to save this incredible building—before it’s lost altogether.

The idea of a Glasgow Museum of Slavery in Egyptian Halls came from the Alexander Thomson Society’s 2019 ‘Reimagining Egyptian Halls’ competition—Gavin Fraser’s design was a commended entry and a beautiful scheme. But funding a project like that would be a huge challenge.
