He's been let out of reading jail

The world is on fire along multiple vectors, yes, and I am keeping my eye on that, as well as working hard (writing) and living my ordinary life, and meanwhile, my latest novel released this week, which I'm incredibly excited about. It's like a constant state of whiplash.

I asked ChatGPT how I could become fitter, happier, more productive...

Ten writers by whom I’ve read more than 5 books: Dorothy Dunnett Lois McMaster Bujold Guy Gavriel Kay Juliet McKenna Robert Holdstock Phil Rickman Lindsay Davis Steven Erikson Daniel Abraham Martha Wells (Playing on hard mode; I've read 10+ books by all of these.)

A secondary thought: Imagine the AI bros make their super-intelligence. What happens when it disagrees with them? When instead of complacently agreeing with everything they say it points out their biases and racism and stupidity. Is that really going to be acceptable to them?

Pleased to discover that the blog we set up for our noirish reinterpretation of the Chuckleverse still exists: chucklevisionnoir.blogspot.com

Ask anyone close to me and they'll tell you that I'm annoyingly committed my belief in the possibility of change, not only in society, but in the hearts of individuals (even those who I don't like at all). And its not like that belief hasn't been rewarded sometimes. But man.

Part of the reason when I see those articles, I just ignore them. Social media is as good as the energy you put into it. I think there are things/tools about BSky that can be greatly improved. Having control over my online space is something I value, though.

Thinking a lot about how it's important that we reframe what's happening in L.A. away from the concept of "protest." A protest is an expression of objection to a state of affairs -- a plea to those in power and/or a light shined for those in the dark. There are other actions with different goals.

admirable commitment to the bit

If you have posted on social media, or on reddit, or on a blog, or written for a website, if you have contributed to Stack Overflow or contributed to FOSS, your work has been used as AI training data. AI can copy you, but it can never get ahead of you. It will never be as good as you.
