Jeez, this is a nightmare. And this is something that the "well, it's here, so we HAVE to use it" cadre cannot answer. The damage we are doing to critical thinking and thoughtful writing is incalculable.

I mean if I'm in a room with others and hear someone say "God, there are a lot of assholes here," since I know I am not an asshole (though I have been; we all have) I generally look around to see what ahole behavior is being exhibited and then try NOT to do that so I won't be the one getting called!
