A day that will live in Infamy.

EU High Representative Kaja Kallas on Trump calling Zelensky a "dictator": "I thought he was confusing two people. Putin hasn’t had real elections in 25 years. Zelensky was elected in free and fair elections. And during war, many constitutions prevent elections." interfax.com.ua/news/general...

"Three years of resistance. Three years of gratitude. Three years of absolute heroism by Ukrainians. Proud of Ukraine! Thank you to everyone who defends and supports it, to all who work for our country. Eternal memory to those who gave their lives for our state and our people" President Zelensky

Archive this now, they’re wiping it from the internet: bylinetimes.com/2025/02/21/d...

It’s coming to something when the Daily Star can put most of the rest of British media to shame.

"In Norway, Tesla saw a 38% sales slump, in France sales dropped by 63%, and in Spain by 75%. Tesla sales dropped 13% across the whole European Union last year and are expected to fall further... Tesla registered only 1,277 new cars in Germany in January, a year-on-year drop of 59.5%."

“Zelensky survived a dozen Russian assassination attempts including a special forces assault on his presidential complex. He stood up to Trump. I’m sure he’ll be deeply impressed to learn our Congressional Republicans live as terrified hostages of their own party leader.” ~ @michaeldweiss.bsky.social

Council By-Election yesterday. Reform UK came 4th. They’ve won only 11 seats from 197 by-elections since the General Election. They have just 70 out of 20k councillors across the UK. 80% of their councillors are defectors, the majority from the Conservatives.

Exactly this, and he now wants to add to it.

Have written about JD Vance’s Munich speech. In what may prove to be the biggest week for European security since 1991, it’s time Europe listened to what Trump and his Vice President are telling us. open.substack.com/pub/goodalla...

Good morning to this man, and this man only #bbcqt

Well, modern medicine was nice while it lasted. The basic anti-intellectualism and anti-science of the right is about to kill a lot of people.

VG from @georgemonbiot.bsky.social but as others have said the historical analogy is wrong. Chamberlain wasn't a Nazi fellow-traveller. AfD supporter and far-right propagandist Goodwin is much closer to Oswald Mosley.

Like some 18th Century imperial treaty to carve up an independent nation. Utterly corrupt and disgraceful.

Surprise!

every day we see more and more evidence of society descending into utter lawlessness and chaos

Right wing - the problem with immigrants is they won't integrate. Badenoch - let's make it more difficult for immigrants to integrate by denying them citizenship.

Guess what happened in 2016.

Europe does desperately need the freshness of Eastern enlargement. We Georgians, Ukrainians, Moldovans and other brothers in struggle live under fear of death for our principled positions and are well aware of the importance of the truth vs bureaucracy and inertia that could eventually doom Europe.

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers. This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder. Auschwitz took time.

Me watching Adam Curtis documentaries: At the time: well it’s a great story and probably there’s a kernel of truth in it but it goes way too far. Five years later: why did he play down everything that is happening in the world?

It's unanimous. A majority of voters in every constituency in England, Scotland and Wales think the government should prioritise trade with the EU over Trump's America or other countries. It's even the most popular view in Clacton. (Sorry Nigel 🙃)

Why are university presses important? A thread 🧵

🚨NEW: Judge Tanya Chutkan slams Donald Trump over the dismissal of all January 6th criminal cases: “it cannot whitewash the blood, feces, and terror that the mob left in its wake." REPOST to thank Judge Chutkan for standing up to Donald Trump!

let's remember that it was an NIH scientist who designed the core of the Moderna Covid vaccine *over a single weekend*

Margaret Thatcher’s many cruel and insensitive statements throughout her premiership fractured the UK’s economic heartland | David Murray @chartalist.bsky.social

My sentiments exactly. What will it take for people to see through this utter conman?? For the love of God, England, do work it out!!!!!

I really recommend this podcast, a fascinating insight into the grubby politics and vested interests of our times.

The £45bn cost of Labour bailing out RBS is held to be a once-in-a-generation economic calamity that the nation barely survived. Brexit cost us just as much every five-and-a-half months.

The only question worth asking is why the media keep talking to this cretinous has-been.

Excellent reporting by @jenwilliamsft.bsky.social:

Forgive me but I still just cannot claim to understand the complaint these farmers have. “I have a huge amount of valuable land worth millions & one day my kids might have to pay tax on that” 😱😱 Yes. Like the bloody rest of us. (Or rather at half the rate of the rest of us but yknow) #r4today

This gang of sex abusers preyed on young children in Walsall, and got away with it for years. What could possibly explain the failure by Nigel Farage, Elon Musk and the Tories to call for a public inquiry about it?

NEW: Andrew Norfolk broke the grooming gang story, 15 years ago. His exclusive interview on today’s News Agents is deeply powerful, not least for his anger about those political figures now exploiting it and the victims for their own purposes. Listen 👇 podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/t...

Some people in recent days have alleged a ‘cover-up’ over the grooming & rape of hundreds of young girls in predominantly northern UK towns, leading to calls for a ‘national’ public inquiry into child sexual exploitation FWIW here’s a non-exhaustive list of inquiries into #CSE in last 12 yrs…
