Thank you to all who contribute to the site. Emotionally I can’t keep up as starting each day disgusted with the flow of news is not healthy. I wish everyone a safe 2025 and as per Spock may you live long and prosper

The failures of the present policy continue to mount. Illegal deportation, tariffs, hostilities towards former allies cutting travel and tourism by10%+. The cost to the economy is now estimated to exceed $100B in 2025. The tariff collection is not free but a direct sales tax on US consumers

Requiring REAL IDs and passports and birth certificates to vote?!? Imagine if these were required to buy a gun.

Good morning. The weaker dollar causes imports to become more expensive as buyers exchange dollars for the foreign currency. Higher interest rates force consumers to pay higher interest on their credit. Where is the tariff revenue going?? Not to reduce the debt but to wealthy people and corporations

So thanks to the genius tariffs on China we are forced to draw up a list of team members we will start to let go in May.Small to medium size companies can’t afford the duties & they too are looking at simply closing. The industrialization of America will be done via robots & not people. Singularity

The economy is arriving at a critical point and the folks in charge have lost the confidence of the average person, the smart money, & congress.Yet no one is willing to stand up & call BS & tell the existing team to sit down, listen, & learn. Scary road ahead and the driver failed their road test.

Not a single word to help the 33m small businesses in this country. Not from anyone in the administration. So many buy from China, and don't have alternatives. So many didn't have the cash to front run the tariffs and buy inventory

An isolated America is a weaker America. While we are a huge market, countries can realign and slowly replace USA volumes and not to our benefit

@cnbc.com your segments are missing the point. At 145% there will be nearly zero freight from China. This can’t be replaced overnight from other sourcing locations. Within the next 4 weeks when ships arrive with limited to no Chinese freight the dislocation of workers will start.

No lawmaker in Congress should be able to own, buy, and sell individual stocks. We need to ban congressional stock trading—and I've got a bill for that.

Maybe all the talking heads should spend a week trying to run a small to medium size business who imports products into the USA markets. These are the folks employing millions of workers and drive part of the economy. Talk of 600% tariffs is simply dumb and grabbing for air time from the cheap seats

The WH story about tariffs forcing jobs back to America is a fantasy in search of a villain. We have a long list of unfulfilled manufacturing jobs. This entire story was an election year charade whose bubble is now bursting. Services make up 80+% of our jobs. Tariffs are a sales tax for all

TARIFF STUPID Two words, same number of letters, different spelling same meaning

Don’t forget to send your thank you cards to the GOP Congressional Leadership and the WH for your inevitable price increases, and your outstanding return on whatever savings you might have left.

It is truly astounding how quickly America has gone from being the most respected country in the world to the least. Our bedrock institutions are gone. Congress impotent, SCOTUS politicized, economy an impending train wreck

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick says regular folks won't mind if one of their Social Security check doesn't show up. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says Americans ready to retire don't care about "day-to-day" market fluctuations. These people are robber barons with no empathy for normal people.

it's a little funny that Congress could stop this any moment, but Johnson and Thune won't because the GOP fears primary voters more than global economic calamity

@cnbc.com ref fast money. Mr big short is wrong his assumption that business will build high employee enterprises flies in the face of all financial logic. As indicated we have a shortage of MFG labor already and countries will find ways to replace lost sales. May take 3-5 years but it is underway

Supply chains don’t work like the WH team imagines. Perhaps you need to ask before you just break them. Wishing something true doesn’t make it a reality

You watch the show West Wing, or the movie American President and you realize what could be only if ….

We need the WH to stop publishing false or incomplete statements. News media should not amplify garbage

GOP Senators voted to cancel Donold’s tariffs on Canada. I almost forgot that Congress could rebuke him if they really wanted to.

There is simply no excuse for the spineless reaction of GOP Congressional members. Stay in Washington until you take back meaningful control of your branch of government and control over tariffs and DOGE. Voters collectively deserve better

Watching the WH team make their rounds on Sunday talk show is the modern day version or Moe, Larry, and Curly. It is group think of the first order. The WH should find a few small adjustments, claim victory and move on. The WH will never admit to making a mistake in anything they do

#GVerse

#HANDSOFF #NYC

We should never forget that any claims made by the WH about tariff revenue collected, is actually increased tax payments made by American companies and individuals.

1) Fox News is for real not showing stock-market ticker during this week's collapse. 2) Its economic news is "strong jobs report." 3) Every time I've checked in today, the coverage has been "illegal immigrants committing new crimes." This is state propaganda, on a par with North Korea or PRC.

Bingo

Unfortunately our business is now discussing the possibility of laying off some of our team members due to the lack of new business since the tariffs were introduced. Credit risk should not be underestimated. Once businesses shed head count they will not hire back for months if not years

Lutnick is wrong, Navarro is wrong, the WH is wrong. Small to medium size businesses don’t have 50-60% margins. Increased Bankruptcy numbers will follow soon. We are watching orders being cancelled by the hour. The pain will not be short term. Our family is locking down the check book

There are 33m companies in the USA. Only 21k employe 500 or more. And they only make up 23% of workers. Trump and Elon are ignoring the more than 32m entrepreneurs that can't afford to build a new factory or pay tariffs or absorb cancelled contracts.

Tens of thousands of my constituents devote their careers to public service. They go to work every day to help America, often passing up lucrative opportunities in the private sector. They are patriots and we should thank them, not vilify them and drive them from public service.

We tried mass tariffs in 1828, and it crashed the economy. We tried again in 1930, and it crashed the economy. Third time’s the charm, I guess.

Circus Clown Car. The reader can apply it you see fit

I wonder how many people realize the tariff on auto parts causes car insurance premiums to go up?

Michael Waltz had TWENTY group chats exposing America's most sensitive military secrets??!!? Sounds like we need TWENTY articles of impeachment to remove Waltz from office

"These are defacto tax cuts for the wealthy paid for by the poor" - Steve Liesman on CNBC

March saw the third-highest number of layoffs in U.S. history, and 80% of them were caused by DOGE This was before the tariffs It's just...unbelievable

Senators Chuck Grassley (R) and Maria Cantwell (D) just introduced a bill to reassert Congress’s power over tariffs. —President must notify Congress on new tariffs within 48 hours of imposition. —Congress must approve them within 60 days or they expire. www.cantwell.senate.gov/imo/media/do...

You have to love the WH team when they start their comments with “this may be difficult for people to understand” as Secretary Lutnickdid this morning on Bloomberg. 100 leading economists including Nobel laureates all get IT and think YOU Sec Lutnick is wrong.

Good day to remember that a US President has no inherent power over tariffs whatsoever. It’s not like war powers or pardons. It’s entirely delegated by Congress to deal with emergencies. GOP Congress cld modify that law tonight and bring this to a screeching halt.

@booker.senate.gov made history yesterday. He made genuinely “good trouble.” During his brilliant record-breaking filibuster, he asked “Where does the Constitution live, on paper or in our hearts?” All of us are called in our own way to answer that question by our actions, not just our words.

The loss of jobs due to the tariffs will by far exceed any gains from the mythical millions of relocated jobs the WH imagines. Corporate America will automate 90% of any new supply point and building it out will take 3-5 years. The gaslighting will continue !!

So the tariffs have been announced. Contrary to the WH narrative the tariff is a direct TAX on every person in America. The idea jobs will come running back to Main ST USA is a fantasy. Rather, companies will face shrinking demand, higher costs, and their biggest cost is people who will be cut first

I don’t do this often and promise not to make a habit of it, but just this once: WE TRIED TO WARN YOU!!!!!

It's not a bad idea to go to the local Walmart or big box retailer and buy lots of consumables now. From toothpaste to soap, anything you can find storage space for, buy before they have to replenish inventory. Even if it's made in the USA , they will jack up the price and blame it on tariffs.
