IMO Rothfuss's prose is excellent. But his character work leaves much to be desired. Every major character just kind of just feels like they are up their own asses, without much in the way of payoff.

In fairness, majority rules can lead to really bad discrimination. It also relies on the general population being aware of what is happening at all times. And it's hard enough to motivate people to be aware only some of the time. Most people don't even know how to parse through these kinds of bills

I'll die on the hill that the water temple is the best in the game, both in spite of and bc of its inconviences A water dungeon would be a massive pain irl. I like that the water temple reflects that. It shouldn't be convenient. Being a struggle/inconvenience makes the triumph that much stronger

You don't always have a laptop or desktop at your hip. You can't whip them out while waiting in line or standing on the subway. A phone is basically another appendage at this point, even for those of us who try to limit use .

Finished a book the other night. Was excellently paced for 3/5 of the book. Then in that 4/5 section went from like 60 to 200. Almost like the editor said "cut 100 pages but keep the story beats". Then the last fifth was amazing again. Loved it, but it was quite the whiplash.

But a lot of detransitioners are trans. They are only detransitioning in the medical and social sense. They still identify as trans and want to continue on their path, but can't for a whole list of reasons. And roughshod? What?

.... What?

Doesn't that ignore detransitioners who do so due to external factors like cost, safety, and health concerns? Which are the majority of detransitioners.

Getting to use chop saws, sledge hammers, and climb tall things tickled the caveman part of my brain phenomenally. Plus, I got to learn actually useful stuff that helps me around the house to this day.

In fairness. I didn't deal with it directly. I feel bad for my ex.

I got the job after starting to date my gf. But oof. My sudden mid-year appearance did, in fact, start some drama. But I just wanted to work with power tools.

I was, at the time, a guy (oh what an egg I was). I'd gotten that job after I started to dating my drama major girlfriend. She went from well-liked to having jealous enemies fast. It was..... Honestly quite terrifying a sight. Real Mean Girls shit.

I worked in the theater in college, building sets and all that. My tiny school had like a 65:35 ratio of women to men, and a high percentage of gay men at that. I remember friendships shattering because girls in the drama department would fight over the single-digit straight guys in the department

Imagine this. A Chris Pine type. We don't feed him for three days. He only drinks a cup of warm apple juice a day for nourishment. Then we turn him into the most unwillingly unfortunate wizard in all the Disc.

Impeaching him would give great counters to the whole "mandate" crap they throw around. Removing him would take a lot of wind out of their sails because it would redraw a lot of lines of allyship.

Optics-wise, it shows the rest of the world that there isn't a high level of agreement with the president It also forces members of Congress make their stance known. And gives a chance for Republicans to throw something out there that could be a sign for potential allyship

Chris Pine. But like, sleep deprived and living off coffee and slim Jim's.

I technically still have to finish it. (Knives, touchups, and maybe some extra highlights in the tails) But wanted to snap a picture.

Every time I look at a drain my cursed brain thinks to itself "what if I snaked out the gunk and licked it?" Which is immediately followed by me gagging and wretching.

Have you ever been sitting on the toilet, wiping, and thought, "what if I'm doing this wrong?"

This is a convo I have with my wife frequently. She does not approve, for she does not understand the joy of baked beans.

Non game dev, but this is why I run workshops for our more junior devs. Give them the tools and opportunities to flourish. Often their biggest road lock is time and experience. Give them some knowledge, put them on some real tickets, and see what they can figure out.

Tbf. She's French during a fantasy version of the Belle Epoque. So the outfit kinda fits. That said. They are really telling on themselves for picking the teenager instead of the multitude of attractive adult women.

If anything, the remaster actually looks more feminine.

Art streams? I don't watch them myself but I hear they are very relaxing and good for background stuff if they engage.

Sense8, for all its flaws, was great because Nomi was, aside from being a sense8, just a trans woman with a deep/sci-fi connection to her little pod. She was a badass, but flawed. And her being trans was relevant, but didn't overwhelm the rest of the story.
