NEW: Incoming German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has said his priority is to strengthen Europe to “achieve independence from the US.” 🇩🇪 He also compared Trump’s administration to Putin’s, blasting Washington’s election interference as “no less brazen than Moscow’s.” The global order has upended.

Here’s my prediction for DOGE: Whatever minimal amount of money it may possibly save in the short term will be far exceeded by the ultimate cost of fixing all of the problems it creates. It’s already an epic failure.

I wish I could tell the moon how much I like it

ICONIC: Yosemite National Park workers just hung an upside-down American flag—THOUSANDS of feet up on El Capitan. That’s not decoration. That’s a distress signal. They’re telling us the country is in danger. Are you paying attention? www.sfchronicle.com/outdoors/art...

This is for @gtconway.bsky.social Five things I did last week. 1. Took too much ketamine 2. Danced onstage with a chainsaw 3. Ignored my new baby momma 4. Laughed at my own jokes. 5. Neglected all of my children except for the one I use as a human shield.

I wish reading the news felt less like binge watching the final season of a long running series that’s been a major part of your life for decades.

FFS New York Times. They’re not *his generals. Unbelievable

Are you bored tonight? Send your five accomplishments, maybe your shopping list, or your five thoughts on Elon from the past week to OPM at [email protected].

Maybe we should stop dragging this backwards-ass Constitution with its Electoral College and its abusive powers (like the Presidential pardon) that have detonated in a 21st century world that its 18th century authors could not have foreseen. There is a strong argument for holding a new convention.

The Trump regime's segregationist agenda is clear. I argue that having a Black man as president of white America enraged a portion of this country so much, that they decided to destroy any pipeline to Black advancement in academia, government, & workplaces. karenattiah.substack.com/p/trumps-seg...

A female admiral. A Black general.

Seems legit.... We don't want to be a nation of underachieving Americans.

President Zelenskyy has been one of the greatest leaders of our time, guiding Ukraine through the darkest period of its recent history, rising up to Russia’s unwarranted aggression, being an inspiration to the Ukrainian people and ensuring that Ukraine’s voice is heard on the world stage.

President Trump calls Zelensky a “dictator,” which we know can’t be true because Trump loves all the dictators. That’s why he appeases and coddles Putin and his filthy imperialist war on the people of Ukraine. History teaches us that we bow down to dictators and tyrants at our own peril.

NYC restaurants are empty and thousands of kids are skipping school in fear under Eric Adams' devil's bargain to give Trump's ICE goon squad free rein in his city so he can keep himself out of prison A look at the real victims of NYC's corrupt deal. My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/comm...

He’s unhinged. And we are unprotected.

Important NYT piece by @himself.bsky.social and @abenewman.bsky.social on how Trump's return could reshape America's economic security tools. 1/ www.nytimes.com/2025/02/17/o...

That’s where his government contracts come in, like the $400 million worth of armored cyber trucks for the Defense Dept. He’s gonna make us buy Teslas one way or another.

I'm sure most people here have seen this/are aware, but thought I'd share just in case anyone missed it🙂 bylinetimes.com/2025/02/07/s...

Lawyer Brain is setting the bar for Constitutional crisis at egregious, unambiguous, unyielding, in-writing violation of a direct Supreme Court order. And that means this Supreme Court majority can simply make up a way to say the law doesn’t apply to Trump (for the third time) and voila, no crisis.

Last night @60minutes.bsky.social opened an otherwise superb segment on Germany’s approach to online hate speech by saying “in the U.S., most of what’s said on online [social media] platforms is protected by the First Amendment.” No.The First Amend protects us against GOVT infringements on speech.

Why would billionaires want to destroy a country? To buy it ALL on the cheap.

Letters went out to federal workers this morning stating they were fired due to poor performance. However, all employees had been rated as “exceptional” performers by their supervisors. Please keep these records and pursue wrongful termination claims. Let the lawsuits begin.

If you swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, this is your chance to actually do it.

Congrats to everyone who insisted they were better off four years ago -- you made it right back to the safety and security of "early COVID pandemic"

Zelenskyy: "I will never accept any decisions between the United States and Russia about Ukraine. Never."

The world's richest man is a foreign-born Nazi who hacked into the personal and financial data of every American so that he could cut cancer research for other people's children. The Democrats, per usual, looking around for reassurance that it's OK to go guns blazing on this a**hole.

Real history!

Nothing to worry about, just an administration official suggesting that the DOJ may prosecute a member of Congress for advising people about their rights. Happening right now. Right in front of us.

Money talks

If you’ve ever taken the oath to uphold the Constitution, this is the time to live up to it.

This wasn’t some liberal holdover. This wasn’t a career bureaucrat. This was someone Trump’s team installed. And even she couldn’t stomach what they were doing. She wasn’t alone. Five more federal prosecutors resigned in protest. Bless their courage!

Hot 97 shared the photo. Frederick Douglass was an orator, a statesman, a social reformer, an activist, an abolitionist and a writer. He fought for African American civil rights. His mother called him “little Valentine,” so since he didn’t know his birthday, he chose February 14th.

“We must especially beware of that small group of selfish men who would clip the wings of the American eagle in order to feather their own nests.” -FDR, 1941

The greatest business battle EVER to be fought will come when President Elon starts trying to implement AI for federal processes. The battle will be fought over which company’s AI will be used by the feds. This is a zero sum battle that will create more chaos than this country has ever seen

CHINA: A 59-yr-old patient of 25 years received a transplant of pancreatic cells derived from his own stem cells in 2021. He is now insulin independent nextshark.com/chinese-scie... This marks the world's first successful use of stem cell-derived islet transplantation to CURE diabetes.

My grandfathers didn’t fight the Nazis so some future American Vice President could cozy up to a bunch of far-right, Holocaust distorting politicians in Germany. This is truly pathetic.

No kidding, this is a line of dialogue from a 1970 movie funded by the Russian government.

Mr Vice President sir, this is the Munich Security Conference. The Insecurities Conference is in the other ballroom.

NEW — In an alarming email last night reviewed by me, Coast Guard members learned that 1,135 members' direct deposit account routing information was compromised due to a data breach from unauthorized access. It was only discovered because an officer “reported anomalous activity” on their account.

A detailed analysis of U.S. health care spending shows significant variation across counties, influenced by factors such as utilization rates, age, and insurance coverage, highlighting disparities in cost efficiency. doi.org/g844w5

Saudi Arabia will host the leaders of Egypt, Jordan, Qatar and the UAE at a summit on Thursday to discuss Trump’s proposal for a US takeover of Gaza, a source with knowledge of the preparations has told the AFP news agency. 🔴 LIVE updates ⤵️
