Me to everybody who accused me of being hyperbolic these past 20 years:

For those unfamiliar with the trucking industry: 80 blank sailings means, give or take, about 1,000,000 cargo containers that had been scheduled and booked for delivery which just disappeared.

The freight guys have really started freaking out over the past 48-72 hours:

Hey, remember in 2018 when Rufo's wife objected to people calling them "white nationalists, fascists, alt-right, and right-wing extremists," and defending herself by saying that she moved to Seattle “for its culture of diversity, inclusion, and economic opportunity"…? DEI for me, not for thee.

I wonder how much extra it will cost for the ad-free subscription tier?

Sure, maybe these letters are sent to citizens in "error." But if so, they're unconcerned with fixing this error because it achieves their goal of creating an atmosphere of fear, intimidation, and uncertainty. #fascism

This is an incredible admission. I do not understand how Murkowski can remain in the Republican party.

On the bright side, vaccination rates are down, so none of the 400 dead will catch autism, amirite Secretary RFK Jr.?

I know one person I wouldn’t mind seeing in a Salvadoran concentration camp.

turns out when you tell your affluent liberal customer base to go fuck itself enough times they start to notice

Tired: EPCOT Wired: CECOT

Today @vanhollen.senate.gov was denied entry to the same prison.

Even if Riggs ultimately is allowed to take the office she won, never forget that they tried to steal it and will try to steal it again

Just wait until American citizens start being detained in numbers while attempting to fly domestically. Every time you pass through TSA will be an opportunity for Homeland Security to harass, detain, imprison, or even deport you. Going to be great for the travel industry!

Major media orgs losing access to the White House is likely to be good for political journalism.

Let’s be clear. When the President defies the Supreme Court, it is the role of Congress to remove him from office. Full stop.

Beginning to think that a military coup would be preferable to where Trump is taking us, and that's really something coming from a child of the Vietnam war and Pentagon Papers era who grew up to be so skeptical and wary of the military.

There will be more cases like Kilmar Abrego Garcia. More illegal deportations. More mistakes. And they’re laying the groundwork to deport American citizens - permanently - to El Salvador’s prisons. It’s not hypothetical. Republicans must join us & draw the line. Or watch our democracy disappear.

it's important for the vast majority of journalists who are not conservatives to recognize that their conservative colleagues and bosses are partners in destroying these organizations from within. their loyalty is to trump and republicans, not to journalism or their news orgs

Incredible reporting here. DOGE engineers may have stolen a bunch of sensitive NLRB data; the agency whistleblower then received what I can only describe as a mafia-style threat.

Welp. Looks like he's probably already dead.

I hope Frank Blethen still reads his own paper. This is the longterm viable business model for local newspapers. The Blethen family would do a great service to Seattle by donating @seattletimes-rss.bsky.social to a nonprofit as well.

There is no rule of law and there are no democratic norms, and without them the Constitution isn't worth the brittle old parchment it's printed on. The next four years isn't a struggle over ideals, it's a struggle over power. Raw naked power.

Can’t help but wonder if this growing campaign against fluoridation has anything to do with private equity’s substantive and growing stake in the dental industry?

What we saw today was two jumped up thugs and their bootlicking sychophants laughing at the US Constitution, the supreme court, and the idea that anyone can stop them from doing anything they want www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

Folks here in WA who have watched his two campaigns for Congress can tell you that Joe Kent is a white nationalist monster. Too monstrous even for the GOP majority in WA-03, which is say something.

IT WAS NEVER ABOUT ANTISEMITISM

I'm guessing "next year in Jerusalem" carried a bit more emotional resonance before you could just hop on a plane and fly to Jerusalem the next day?

Serious people tell me she's too young and uncredentialed, but I'd vote for AOC for president in 2028.

To be fair, one of the definitions of “stagnant” is “stale or foul from standing, as a pool of water,” and there is literally no foul odor or taste from the past half century of suppressed wage growth, nor is it something that could be accurately described as wet. So best not to use that word.

The biggest mistake Seattle ever made was not electing Chris Rufo to the city council, because that would have surely destroyed his political career. Our bad.
