Izzy is doing ok, hopefully some good luck with injuries and he’ll be more frequent. One I think got missed is Jack O’Donoghue, a few years back he was absolutely on top form, and really could have done a job in green. Dropped back a bit now, but with the right chances could have been great.

This is where I think we’ve failed* over the last several years. How do we know if there isn’t a better player for a position in green if they can’t get a look in. Exposure to intl rugby can speed development for a player, but every match is a must win so no-one gets tried out.

I’m too jaded to think like that at this stage. The central contracts have made it so the team is nailed on, and player retirement is the only way to affect any position. Fingers crossed Humphrys is starting to shake things up.

Started 10 games in the URC for Munster this year, and Ryan Baird started just 6, yet he’s been in Ireland squads for years. Ahern also played more minutes in the EPCR this year too.
