Been there, done that. Twofold problem:
1. Design -- hot water heater needs to be near a floor drain. It is insane that this isn't always done.
2. Education/maintenance -- Sacrificial anode needs to be replaced every so often.

Yes that's a good point. The big aggregators are going to be running this with fast code on big computers.

Also, wouldn't using direct feeds be faster just because there's one fewer computer in the loop?

I used Naviga Alert for my trading but they don't support it well and I don't even know if they have an API type product. Obviously the big boys are Dow Jones and Bloomberg but there's got to be a much cheaper solution for those who don't need their proprietary newswires.

Are you looking to get feeds directly from each news wire? It seems so much simpler to just go with an aggregator. There is definitely alpha in lower liquidity more obscure news items.

1208% APR now at IB. If shorting now and equity gets deleted from DTCC in 2 weeks you lose money. #$SAVEQ

If you are a talented equity analyst send in an application because Aristides could use you as well.

The broker rounding up the price to $1.00 to then charge interest on that amount is what really kills you. Without that it would be a no-brainer short even at 1000% APR

They almost get that right. Many brokers have a dollar for lot form where they will pay you $1 for all the shares of a security. But mmtlp was canceled so there is no need for that. 🤷♂️

Took my size down to about 100bps for tiny gains. Special Situation Investments also has a write-up on this: www.specialsituationinvestments.com/2025/02/spri...

This position size is way too large considering it quickly goes to zero if there is no deal. My general sizing on special sits / merger arb is to risk 50 to 70 bps so that would be a more appropriate position.

Crypto is wonderful at incentivizing violence against those who hold it. We should thank those criminals.

We need to ban gambling and meme coins so these idiots all go back to playing penny stocks and ensuring that I have enough money to continue to travel the world eating at fancy restaurants.

My dealer experience was great in terms of purchasing it and getting one software recall done. I have heard horror stories about some other dealers though. They still haven't completely solved the ICCU problem with the e-gmp platform -- that is the one problem with the EV6 / IONIQ5

Free 𝛼 Friday: your edge may be wider than you think. Are you a microcap shortseller with specialized brokers to be able to short anything? Look to add other trading systems that specialize in shorting hard to borrow stocks. #$SAVEQ was only shortable at one of my four brokers.

27% profit in <2 hours of market time. I'll be holding for a lot lower though. I am also way too small 🤦 #$SAVEQ Spirit Airlines

Even if there were more alpha and small and micro caps at the past there is likely less now because so many of the good ones get taken private. You can look at aggregate statistics of the Russell 2K to see how the quality of its components has decreased over time

They already liquidated most of their assets. NAV is currently $0.03. I've been short 300 shares and it got marked to zero (but I've had to make payments in lieu of dividends for the distributions).

As long as the shares are not frozen at DTCC or in some legal halt (e.g., #$ERUS or other Russian securities) they can be transferred. Working out escrow or a contract is just a simple if annoying matter.

You do either a Free of Payment (FOP) transfer of shares (which is only allowed by a few brokers such as Etrade and Fidelity to people other than yourself) and do private payment (Venmo, wire, cashier's check, whatever) or you can do direct registration with transfer agent and transfer that way

Even with substantial decreases in airline safety (say 500 dead per year in crashes) it will still be far safer than driving, so 🤷

Mainly a warning about risks to shorts. I ended up stuck short #$PIXY (anticipating BK) paying 1000% APR borrow cost for weeks before the rate was reduced (and eventually went to zero). I'm still short. #$HYZN didn't delist as expected and spiked because of that; then halted unexpectedly midday.

Also add #$WRNT from August 6th, 2024 and #$AIU, both of which were ADRs

I know a couple guys who were trapped short HYZN. They ended up buying shares off longs to close out the short and stop paying borrow. There was warning in that the company 8-K had said it would be suspended that day. Someone messed up at NASDAQ and it traded for a couple hours before halting.

The upcoming gutting of SEC at the hands of Musk is unlikely to affect this but within a year or two I expect FINRA to lose most of its powers (possibly as the supreme court rules for Alpine Securities in its suit against FINRA) and this may end.
comment in response to
post
Why is this? FINRA must be more tightly scrutinizing forms 211 submitted by market makers to add delisted stocks to OTC trading. I talked to multiple MMs and couldn't get a clear answer.

BYU (ADR & former China P&D), PIXY (Chap 11 BK), ASLN (liquidation), NBSE (liquidation) (list is 2024-now).
Note that the company stating that their stock will continue to trade OTC doesn't mean anything. FRES said "The Company expects its securities to trade on the Pink Market" but it never did.
