Another way the dictatorship might kill you. This is from a friend who is a retired air traffic controller.

A navigator on large merchant ships told me this morning that the NOAA solar position calendar he regularly uses to compare against his compass is now down. Musk is putting shipping at risk. gml.noaa.gov/grad/solcalc...

Move fast and break things is not the motto you want to adopt at a regulatory system that, as challenged as it may seem at times, is extremely functional.

i wasn’t even being hyperbolic

Every day, this President tells us what kind of person he is. Today, it was in relation to aviation

➡️ January 20: FAA director fired ➡️ January 21: Air Traffic Controller hiring frozen ➡️ January 22: Aviation Safety Advisory Committee disbanded ➡️ January 28: Buyout/retirement demand sent to existing employees ➡️ January 29: First American mid-air collision in 16 years Making America Great Again!

This is 100% the case in aviation. This career path runs in family lines, and there simply aren’t enough white male third generation pilots to staff the airlines unless you scrape the bottom of the barrel. Either we embrace DEI or we hire Brayden, son of an airline captain with four checkride busts

leaving the cruelty aside for just a minute it's absolutely humiliating to imagine being my age or older and getting excited because you think you've been given permission to say a bad word. what are you gonna do next, ride your tricycle past the end of the block

Protect your energy for the things that matter to you. It’s not going to be easy to do the work needed for the coming years, but it won’t be as hard if we stay in it together #abortion #transrights #reproductivejustice

alright you wanna know how to support trans people? hire them. It's REALLY hard already for visibly trans people to get jobs, even before this shit. Support places that have trans people working front of house, and make sure owners know that's part of why you're there.

Look, I know every single generation says the music was better when they were 18-22, but I miss when you could pay $15 and see a band you know at a ratty college bar. I think we lost something intangible but significant when it became too expensive for small bands to go on tour.

after days of grifters and con men at CES we stumbled upon the booth for VLC. they were all dressed as wizards and told us, "we have nothing to sell, we just decided to show up". i told them I'd been using their software to pirate media for 15 years and they said "keep doing that"
