otoh, if you pronounce paris the french way then you'd also pronounce hilton the french way which at the very least would mean dropping the H sound. now, the s in paris will actually be pronounced (but closer to 'z') since it's one word ending in vowel sound and the other is starting in a vowel snd

& i have my phone in dark mode and some apps look bad in grayscale (maps especially), if this applies to you you can also set up a shortcut/automation thing to automatically toggle light mode on when you open maps, and switch back to dark mode when you close the maps

also a life hack, you can add the toggle to control center (useful for taking or viewing photos, duh) to avoid having to go to settings-accessibility-etc every time

which has me thinking... on a practical level... that maybe i should disconnect intentionally more often but there is also a larger point to be made about the direction that technology is taking and especially around how the development of so-called revolutionary technology like LLMs

but being forced to disconnect (such as during long flights) always stimulates my mind and memories and creativity in a way that they don't seem to have an opportunity to when there is an easy and exciting distraction available. and i just ran across this article and it talks about the same thing...
