itchio suggests creators price stuff $2+ on their platform so i decided to make a chart... at $1 almost half the money disappears to fees! $2 sets the total fees under 30% (30% is the usual platform fee for steam & consoles, not including other fees) ref: itch.io/docs/creator... #indiegamedev

Hi #godot enjoyers! I am new to the engine, but have 8+ years of experience in Unreal and Unity as a 3D artist. There's some things I'd like to figure out how to do in Godot, but which I can't find documentation about - if you're an artist who knows the engine well, would love some help! (thread)

THE STRUGGLE IS REAL #gamedev #indiedev #unity3d #madewithunity

In today’s #gamedev musings let’s discuss: cheat codes! Do you remember them? Do you miss them? I do and do. And for quite some time, it’s baffled me how few players recognize the disservice done by removing cheats from video games. #indiedev #gamedesign

So the demo is 90% finished. Here are some clips. Biggest change is how the enemies hurt you. I gave them "attacks", because the game moves too fast just to have them collide. #gamedev

🥹 Chickensoft (grassroots #godot + #csharp community) is expanding! @mrkwlsn.bsky.social is our new co-admin, and he drove the redesign, dev and release of the new chickensoft log projects specifically tailored for #gamedev / #indiedev. He meticulously updated everything that had to be done, too!

Today I've seen a thread re: feedback for just released game demo. Someone asked if there's a Discord channel to provide feedback, the developer responded there's none and suggested writing it under the post (I've removed author info because it doesn't matter). #gamedev

don't underestimate your subconscious need for a wide range of experiences if you spend weeks doing the same thing in the same environment in the same way, you're at risk of forgetting the broader world of life, art, and people. it can get really isolating, and exacerbates burnout

What's the riskiest thing to do in the middle of a #gamedev project? Upgrading third-party libraries and dependencies. Bonus points if the upgrade has been postponed for so long that two most important libraries have released a new major version (with lots of breaking changes). 💀

This, actually, shows the start system. Doors/lights work in sync with spawning. Spawn system needs more work, like "which" enemies on "what" stage appear. Next is the health/key pickup & completion system. #gamedev Join my newsletter: zc.vg/hrVkA

Really solid video on juice (aka game feel) in turn-based games on a grid. #gamedevelopment #gamedesign youtu.be/xSYVQc7cH-4?...

PSA: You can disable all of these to make this place feel like 2009 Twitter.

I hope it's not just me, but there's a loooooong passage of time when developing your game where it just sucks and you hate it, it's incomplete, imbalanced, you don't feel like it's worth bothering with anymore. Then one day the whole thing flips and it's suddenly the most exciting thing to work on.

Bump for #gamedev folks on the other side of the globe! #indiedev #unitydev #madewithunity #unitytips #lowpoly #pixelart
