Forbes: The Qataris have been trying to get rid of that ostentatious luxury jet for five years, but no one would buy it. It costs too much to fly, costs more to maintain, and needs too big a landing strip. They had another one they unloaded on Turkey. Delicious. www.forbes.com/sites/jeremy...

We are doomed

Let’s have Congress vote on it. I’d like to get some Republicans on record before the midterms.

This is absurd. Tax cuts for larger businesses and the wealthy have never worked to boost the overall economy. Tried and tried with each GOP controlled Congress. Never accomplishes what is touted

The GOP’s “big beautiful bill” includes a clause giving Donald Trump the ability to revoke the tax-exempt status of any group the Treasury Department says is a terrorism supporter. The bill is in the reconciliation process, meaning it only requires a simple majority in the House and Senate to pass.

Thanks Trump. Oh, and still a heck of a job Duffy

WSJ EDITORIAL BOARD: “.. Rarely has an economic policy been repudiated as soundly, and as quickly, as President Trump’s Liberation Day tariffs ..” @wsj.com www.wsj.com/opinion/u-s-...

Gradually but inexorably, the WSJ editorial page is coming to terms with the fact that leader of their preferred political party is, ah, well, a bit of a grifter. Free link www.wsj.com/opinion/air-...

From Axios: "Trump administration welcomed white Afrikaners while ending Afghan protections" Enough said.

Let's be clear: This is Christopher Landau, a longtime part of the conservative movement and former Thomas clerk, not some random Trumper who found his way into a job.

The Afrikaner stunt is the kind of thing that has backfired so far -- it creates legal arguments for other refugees about animus. But holy hell he's not hiding the white sheets.

China agreed to reduce the tariffs they raised in response to Trump’s tariffs after Trump agreed to lower his tariffs. Create a problem, surrender, then declare victory.

Creating a problem and then demanding praise for fixing it. A pattern.

1/Latest in tariff omnishambles. This is not a deal. The US just blinked. The lesson for China: US escalation cannot be maintained. For the US: we will still see inflation and the chance of recession. For the world: the end of US credibility. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/12/b...

Ethics is for losers, Trump says.

Trump says Democrats are losers for not getting hundred of millions of dollars in bribes from foreign dictators.

this guy is out here proudly being a eugenicist freak while people at mainstream and "respectable publications" make excuses for him or even muse about whether he has a "few good points"

The GOP wanted to impeach Biden for a fake $5M bribe from Ukraine that was made up by a guy sitting in prison for lying about it, but they’re cool with a $400M plane from Qatar. Do I have that right?

AOC: This administration — and Noem — spits on the American flag every time they engage in that nonsense. So I don’t want to hear anything about “America First.” These people, and this administration, are putting America last by acting like their allegiance is to a man instead of the Constitution.

AOC: We need to be talking about ICE agents and the cowardly policy of covering their faces — and, in many cases, their identification… The idea that we’re going to allow a paramilitary force to bloom, one that isn’t accountable to the Constitution… we’ve got another thing coming.

When you make a Monty Python co-founder laugh out loud. 💕

He just doesn’t care…

“.. Under this deal, it will now be cheaper to import a UK vehicle with very little U.S. content than a USMCA compliant vehicle from Mexico or Canada that is half American parts.” @thehill.com @scottlincicome.bsky.social thehill.com/business/529...

These people in charge are the absolute worst people in the world.

So Trump finally reaches the concepts of the framework of a trade deal with a country that we actually have a trade SURPLUS with. In Trump’s vernacular, WE have been ripping THEM off. So now we help them reverse that so we can run a deficit with them. Brilliant.

Grateful that the new Pope seems to share Pope Francis’ views on the current wave of nativist immigration policy.
