Kentucky is still dealing with deadly flooding, cold temperatures and the aftermath of a winter storm that took the lives of at least 20 people. While we received the President Donald J. Trump Disaster Declaration, we’re still waiting on approval for individual assistance.

I’m sad to share more tough news, as we’ve now lost 20 Kentuckians from the severe weather this week. The latest include: - Adult female, Warren Co. - Adult male, Pike Co. - Adult male, Caldwell Co. - Adult male, Ohio Co. - Adult female, Morgan Co.

A senseless act of violence outside of a regional driver licensing office on Dixie Highway in Louisville has taken the lives of three people. This is an ongoing situation, and we will share more information as available.

Kentucky, please add another family to your prayers as we just confirmed a weather-related death out of Livingston County. We’ve now lost 15 people, each one a child of God who will be missed by their loved ones. Let’s show those mourning they’re not alone and we love them.

Kentuckians are stepping up to help their neighbors recover. We've seen this through every challenge: Our people lifting up others when they need it most.

Over 220 roads are currently closed from flooding, and now snow is affecting areas as well. There are 2,300 Kentucky Transportation Cabinet personnel out working tirelessly, because they care about their fellow Kentuckians. Please give them space to do their jobs and thank these heroes.

Thank you to every single first responder, our Kentucky State Police, Kentucky National Guard and National Guard members from other states, our Kentucky Transportation Cabinet crew members, volunteers and more. You are all heroes. Your efforts are saving lives, and all of Kentucky is grateful.

This morning we learned that we have two more deaths from the storms. Let's remember that these 14 fatalities are not just a number. These are children of God, people missed by their families and their communities. Let's pray for them and continue to support their loved ones.

We've got more winter weather headed our way, Kentucky, with widespread snow accumulation, low temperatures and dangerous road conditions expected. Please stay weather-alert, watch our social media for updates and do what you can to keep your family safe and warm.

This morning I sent a request for individual assistance due to the severe weather and impacts across our state to President Trump, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, and the acting director of FEMA. This funding would provide for immediate needs and clean-up for those affected.

Our Kentucky State Parks always open their doors to our neighbors in need. At Jenny Wiley State Park, I heard from families who have lost so much, yet felt at home thanks to the kindness of our team. I know their impact will never be forgotten. I’m so grateful.

Widespread flooding is continuing. The statewide impact is massive, with hundreds of water rescues and multiple fatalities. Evacuations are continuing as this event will continue through today. Please be careful if you have to travel.
