Zohran Mamdani demonstrated what’s possible when we fight for smart, compassionate policies on housing, childcare, and taxing the freakin rich. Don’t let Bruce’s election-year posturing fool you. Let’s get @wilsonkatieb.bsky.social elected: mobilize.us/s/ZYJSdX

The main lessons to me of Mamdani’s win: 1. Democratic voters really are fed up with their fossilized, incompetent establishment. 2. Housing is by far the number one issue, and if you want to beat that establishment, own the housing issue by pledging to make it easier to build housing of all kinds

Smart, sensible, progressive proposal out of @alexis4seattle.bsky.social’s office. * 76% of businesses now paying tax would pay no tax; * 90% would see their tax bill go down * $90 million in new progressive revenue

In the words of Nelson Mandela: it always seems impossible until it’s done. My friends, it is done. And you are the ones who did it. I am honored to be your Democratic nominee for the Mayor of New York City.

Love seeing @wilsonkatieb.bsky.social, a true housing champion, speaking out for stacked flats and a more affordable future for Seattle renters and the next generation šŸ™ŒšŸ¼ How cute is her kid??

šŸ¢šŸ” Omg the strong urge to stop every person talking about trees at City Council today…If we don’t build more homes in Seattle we WILL convert more of WA’s beautiful, dense forests into parking lots and suburbs, driving up emissions along the way. Attachment to a singular tree kills forests 🌲

Paris 2019 v. Today: I don’t think people realize how immense @annehidalgo.bsky.social’s legacy will be.

Particularly foolish if you care about climate change — young PNW conifers tend to sequester _more_ carbon each year (in their first 80-120 years)

Happy #Juneteenth! šŸ¤ŽšŸ™šŸ¾āœŠšŸ¾

Ridership on the RapidRide G Line continues to climb, with weekdays in May seeing more than 6,000 daily riders for the first time. May ridership was up 46% over the G Line's first full month of October. Fast frequent and reliable service draws riders, go figure.

Moulton: It turns out the U.S. Army is not great at doing Soviet-style or North Korean-style parades, because that’s not what people sign up to do… Imagine how much veteran housing you could build for $40 million. You could help a lot of vets with that kind of money. And this parade helped nobody.

Hey Bluesky why do *we* have 5k followers when @laresistencianw.bsky.social has 500? What are *you* doing to support and amplify the most impacted communities right now? How are you using your urbanist platforms on here?

Seattle has bent over backwards to bolster Trump's army in SPD. When Seattle inevitably looks like LA and the cops help defend ICE from protesters, I hope every elected official realizes they have funded fascism. And it will be far too late, but I hope it fucking haunts them

do you have to send a picture of your tiny penis when applying to work for ICE or do they just take your word for it

Did you know advocates have been fighting for the Garfield Super Block project for 20 years? It’s officially a go! Come join the groundbreaking, hear from leaders & funders realizing this project for art, accessibility, and intergenerational play in Seattle’s Central Area. bit.ly/GSB-groundbreaking

EXCLUSIVE: City Councilmember Cathy Moore will announce this afternoon that she is stepping down as of July 7, PubliCola has learned.

NEW: Seattle City Councilmember Cathy Moore is withdrawing her bill to lower ethical standards for council members by allowing them to vote when they have a financial conflict of interest, saying it's "clear that we require more time to ensure we get this right."

NEW: Almost 72 hours after a far right hate rally came to the gayborhood + cops beat on the queers, only one City Council member, AMR, has clearly taken a side. The hill's other two reps are either completely silent or "gathering information." www.theburnerseattle.com/post/almost-...

Katie Wilson 36%, Bruce Harrell 33%: NPI’s May 2025 Civic Heartbeat poll finds statistical tie in Seattle mayoralĀ race Eight candidates filed for Mayor of Seattle during Filing Week 2025. Honestly, sometimes I cannot with these folks. Do they hear themselves as they shill for these ad kiosks in downtown? Is that a top priority for you as a resident? Remember: Vote Nelson out this August (and give your vouchers to Dionne Foster now!) dionnefoster.com/vouchers/

Councilmember @alexis4seattle.bsky.social appears to be the only Councilmember fighting to hear from the public and keep comment open as nearly all speak out against rollbacks to ethics changes

Very engaged councilmembers… Seriously though, all other public servants in our city must stick to a strong code of ethics. Councilmembers should NOT be able to vote in their own financial interests. Not a single commenter supports rolling back ethics standards, because duh? šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

In addition to the raid in Kent, ICE also arrested four people outside the immigration court in downtown Seattle today after their cases were dismissed for expedited removal — the first time this is happening under this administration. It is possible ICE will be there tomorrow too.

@mlklabor.bsky.social what are you doing? The guy who raided Jumpstart and won’t back new progressive revenue to maintain critical programs for workers in Seattle??

Housing advocates going strong 2 hours into City Council hearing. Let’s address the housing shortage, build more homes in Seattle, and prevent conversion of Washington forests to sprawl.

Get out and support middle housing today at the Seattle City Council! 🚨 Sign up to comment in-person or online or send in written comment. Tell the council to reject amendments to water down the legislation and instead to improve it to be more pro-housing. www.theurbanist.org/2025/05/17/t...
