I've been in the industry for decade and half. My over-simplified gut feeling is: earlier on games ranged from very good and the opposite as people explored. Now business/data people have moved in to enforce mediocracy. I felt like I'm grateful to have seen a little of the messy earlier days.

I think it's more about publishers than developers... money people avoid risks, which is why you see risk-taking mostly in indie spaces nowadays. I dislike this intensely fwiw.

Some tips: 1. Be patient, start is slow but once the sprouts happen they grow fast. 2. Avoid light / harvesting too late. Once they grow green leaves, the taste will be a bit bitter. 3. Using a mesh/holey container makes it easier to cut off the thin root tips when harvesting.

For those new to this and interested in trying, my favorite set up is: 1/2 cup dried mung beans, soak for a few hours then place between wet cheese cloth in a container used for draining. Weigh down with some dishes on top, keep in a dark place. rinse the setup twice a day for about a week.

Thank you! My greatest learnings far is people will grow, so I should never put labels on or boxes around other people as well as myself without qualifying it with “currently” or “in the past”, and limit it to specific occurrences and actions 💖

For those unfamiliar with 3D art: Diffuse (“color”) texture is part of the process, not by itself the end results in anything but hand painted games. Speaking in pure speculation, it’s entirely possible the artist made it overly noisy to achieve the subtle end result with final shader and lighting.

Yeah, honestly I so much want to have a week-long vacation to binge on this :)

I can’t wait. Now only if I can stop obsessively lockpicking every chest I walk into in the first game 😱

As a weirdo artist who, deep down, just wants to do things my inner child likes, I find myself in a funny mindset where I both appreciate where I am currently, and also look forward to some day being more willfully individualistic. It’s going to be interesting looking back some day.

There are rituals that are funny and distasteful at times to ensure people in the decision making positions can make decisions. They sometimes make good decisions and sometimes don’t. However a corporation relies on them being able to make those decisions to have any chance of working.

It comes down to making sure people feel heard and making sure you understand them and they know it. Making sure people feel useful and smart in good and less good moments, so when you do give candid feedback they have firm enough footing to make use of it instead of needing to go on the defensive.

Eagles look so derpy from every angle except the side, lol. I remember blaming myself for inability to draw birds that don’t look derp from the front. Want to go back in time and tell my kiddo self it’s just damn hard for everyone cz they literally look goofy from the front…

Thank you! We loved the place so much that we went from visitors to having a family member become a resident in less than 1 year there. Each time we visit I don’t want to leave!

Thank you! I find myself grimicing when trying to do trees in a landscape/plein air painting, so this is my attempt to overcome that!

ugh i wrote 2024 instead of 2025. I'm a little bit of a traditionalist what can I say.
