OMG this is ridiculous. I just read that article. I was trying to do some research to figure out who might’ve been behind the movie. So I found the article in the Smithsonian. Like a dummy, I didn’t look at who had written it. I was JUST about to provide the link to you to get your comment! 🤦♂️

Aren’t all protectionist schemes just a race to the bottom? That said i agree that the people in supporting DT are a minority. And that a huge swath of Americans disagree and probably want to support Canada. So re American tourists, it may actually be a wash. Until we have stats we just won’t know.

Well, I can tell you that I have absolutely no intention to going back there. But what happens, Aaron, if Americans do exactly the same thing. Now they’ve started booing our anthem.

I bought Neil Price‘s book “children of ash and elm”. As a layman, I thought it was great. Then completely by chance I encountered the movie “the Northman“ on Netflix. I watched it & I thought it seemed to be doing a good job dealing with what you’re talking about here. Thoughts?

One of those books which contains so many facts that you never knew and are astonished to learn about. Also extremely well written.

Also, in Res Rustica: “ there are bred certain minute creatures, which cannot be seen by the eyes, which float in the air, and enter the body through the mouth and nose and cause serious diseases.”

I encountered Christopher de Hamel’s scathing indictment on the white gloves in his book “meetings with mediaeval manuscripts“. He was very convincing on why they’re not very useful at all.

Hey, Oliver, did see my article on Eleanor Marx’s speech to the Shelley Society. Quotes her dad on how Shelley was essentially anticipating the manifesto. She went on to “Claim him” as a socialist and gave the finger to mainstream interpretations of his poetry. Fiery. 🔥🔥

Yes!! he does meetings with remarkable manuscripts, but not the manuscript club. Well wait, I think he does the introduction, but he let somebody else (also very good) read the book.

Yes!!! And I treated myself to the audiobook as well which HE READS!!! I like to lie in bed, going to sleep, listening to him talking about these manuscripts. I prop the book open and look at the pictures as he talks about them.
I also got the manuscript club. That was just as much fun.
