Hi! I'm Graham! I'm a writer and table top game developer. I'm always cooking up something and rarely get enough sleep. This is my official work bluesky because my manager tells me I need to network.

AH! I misunderstood! Have a great day, and I hope your tattoo goes well!

If you're still looking, my partner designs tattoos and did exactly this with their own dnd character. They do fantastic work and have designed tattoos for comission before Reference image below. They go by @notjustanacrobat.bsky.social

You could have a horde, or you could use dice to stand in. For example, the hit points of a large creature could be represented with a D20 while hordes of weaker enemies could just be a D6 placed on the 1 face to represent it will die in one hit

Great work!!!!! I love the colour split. That's a really great way to make it look distinct

I'd prefer a short game with a good story and great gameplay, over a sprawling game, with 4 to 5 mid to bad stories, and undercooked gameplay. Every. Single. Time. Looking at you, Dying Light 2. I love that game to death, but looking back, it did not need to be an RPG.

Gods, I wish I could find a cyberpunk RED group. It's such a good system

... the better experience you'll have over-all with any system. Remember, the GM isn't trying to "beat" you. Not really. It's all performance. They want you to win.

Something that helped me with a similar problem in dnd is to move away from the mindset of "winning" or "losing". Failure isn't a bad thing in tabletop games, it's just a natural part of the narrative. When you learn how to play into a failure, revel in it, and have fun with it...

Hi Jake! You've got an amazing art style!

One attitude I want to abolish is the idea that to be a "real" game master is to have everything in your game be completely custom homebrew (from the setting to the adventure to even the statblocks) and that relying on the resources made to help you is somehow being lazy

Pre-made advetures are my favourite (and hey, I've written some, look at that, that's crazy) I love reading about all the creative and wacky scenarios that other minds can cook up, and honestly, it lowers the bar to get a game ready for my players (taking some stress off of me)

They should have at least taken a long break to stop fatigue from setting in, and finding a solid direction to take the universe in

@notjustanacrobat.bsky.social would you share your experiences with Rogue Trader?

It's actually a really good introduction to the universe! It was my partner's first exposure to 40k! The game occasionally highlights in-universe terms, and if you hover over them, it gives you the context to understand what it means ^^

I'm writing one, lmao. At least that's the goal

It is a moral imperative to punch Nazis, especially with them coming out of the woodwork rn

This sounds like the drukhari (dark elves) from warhammer 40k

Yeah, women have been in sci-fi/nerd spaces since the beginning. They were just quiet about it because a) nerdy/geeky men were misogynistic as fuck, b) those men did everything they could to make hobby spaces/sci fi community as hostile to women as possible, and c) they were shamed for their...

Oof, I've played with that kind of person before, and let me just say: never again

Good to know! Thank you! I watched some videos on it after we talked last night and it looks really cool ^^

My personal vote is Rogue Trader! It's zany

That's actually a good pitch for a scenario. What a weird freaking timeline we've found ourselves in

Ooo, interesting! Narrative heavy games are so good.

That does sound a lot more player friendly. The thing that made me drop out of magic was just that I couldn't keep up with the pace (nor could my wallet)

Ooo, that's the opposite of a downside. Looking into it more now

How is flesh and blood? I've seen it around, I've just never gotten a chance to play

The amount of people who think DnD is the only game in town is disheartening Especially everyone trying to turn DnD into a horror game
