Something to remember about why we get service cuts & things don't work. Earlier this year the Supes put on a show & “reluctantly” allowed $61M for SFPD overtime. Well, this year SFPD proposed $71M for OT, but Lurie’s top cop is trying to raise it to $80M. www.sfchronicle.com/sf/article/h...

Come garden with our Ecoscocialism Working Group to talk socialism and get to know our garden! We'll start with a discussion of the history of native plants in the Bay Area and then identify the native plants in our office garden. RSVP here: actionnetwork.org/events/ecoso...

We need a LOT more than just zoning changes if we want to change this, notably PUBLIC investment in building housing. And if this map bugs you, you should vocally oppose SF's practice of pushing tickets out of state on unhoused and RV-dwelling people instead of housing them here.

Thanks to everyone who came out today for our Monday San Francisco #TeslaTakedown …and for the first time, also a #PalantirPowerdown. We’re not going to let Musk retreat into the shadows. We’re shining a light on all these fascist #NerdReich tech-billionaires. Billionaires Must Be Abolished.

If we say defund the police we're expected to have a perfect, ironclad, completely worked out in advance public safety proposal to replace them with but honestly even just abolishing police overnight and doing nothing else might make us net safer.

This weekend, we showed our power. We ran No Kings AND supported the emergency mobilization at 478 Tehama by Bay Resistance, Mission Action, and the We Fight Back Coalition to shut down the ICE office. We held the space for 2 days and closed out strong at 4 PM today. THANK YOU ALL!!!! #SFPol #ICE

Don't block the view! The first 20 feet from the corner is a No Parking zone. 20 feet is just over 1 car length, and is also about the width of half of a typical Berkeley lot. This is a California state law.

These injuries were not inflicted by ICE or federalized guardsmen or imaginary agitators. They were inflicted by LAPD and LASD, under the direction of a supposedly democratic mayor, against people who came out to protest peacefully against fascism and racist kidnappings of our neighbors.

This time-lapse video of protesters marching down Broadway in Oakland for No Kings Day gives an idea of how many people turned out today @sfchronicle.com

that's a lot of people

Despite warnings from the law enforcement not to attend today’s No Kings rally after this mornings shooting of Minnesota lawmakers with the killer on the lose, the No Kings Rally is happening at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul.

Melissa Hortman, who was assassinated last night, was the Speaker of the Minnesota House in the 2023-2024 session, when Democrats ran the state government. That means she had a leading role in shepherding the many landmark reforms that Dems adopted in that period—an important legacy. Brief 🧵.

“No Kings” demonstration, Ocean Beach, San Francisco

the building is shuttered and we're hearing they've canceled some but not all appointments today. We'll be out here til 4p to keep it closed, join us

A photo that I snapped an hour ago of the San Francisco #NoKings protest. I estimate about 150,000 people in total.

this is the sort of plan you make if your goal is more homeless people

LAPD is illegally sharing license plate data with ICE and Border Patrol. Under California law, police agencies are barred from sharing license plate reader data with out-of-state public agencies or federal entities.

Bay Resistance and Mission Action are holding an emergency mobilization at 478 Tehama at 7 AM. This is a legitimate action. We are asking everyone who can to attend. In the meantime, the NO KINGS Mobilization is still ongoing. We will begin at 11:30 at Dolores Park as planned. #SFPol #ICE

“The sad thing about surviving several historical catastrophes is that you grow old like everybody else, and after spending your strength resisting fascism you still need one or two meals a day.” - Victor Serge, _Last Times_, trans. Manheim/Greeman, 49

@prisonculture.bsky.social and I have been encouraging people to read chapter six of our book, Let This Radicalize You, which deals with the question of "violence" in social movements. We have decided to share the chapter publicly, to offer some context and grounding for the current conversation.

I was sad to see my favorite writers on the SF Chronicle's editorial side, @soleilho.com and @nuala.bsky.social, leave, but now I see they left to start an independent media collective with some other great journalists. Let's go! givebutter.com/coyotemedia

with the bar so low for safe bike infrastructure, it's hard to strike the balance after a project between "hooray! it's so much better!" and "this, that, and the other thing still suck." SBSF as usual goes sharply in the latter direction. I'm happier than ever with Valencia, but they're not wrong

everyone in SF should read this. unfortunately “it’s inhumane to let people live like this” has become politician empathy speak for “and that’s why I will make things even worse for them” eltecolote.org/content/en/s...

Waymos are off Market Street for now - but do go sign the petition to keep it that way. keepmarketstmoving.org/sign-the-pet...

"Residents said the deepest betrayal came from Melgar—SF’s only Latina supervisor at the time—who had personally visited the Winston Drive community over the years, promising families they would not be forced out without a safe alternative."

San Francisco "used parking laws and construction projects to displace RV residents, even as internal emails flagged legal, logistical and ethical concerns." "These vehicle homes sheltered dozens of working-class Latinx families, who could no longer afford the city." #California #USA #Housing
