Nothing illustrates the Doom communities' current embarrassment of riches quite like 4 entire megwads dropping in a 24-hour period. Truly incredible.

Grid-based dungeon crawler with grindy combat and I assume contemporary setting with jRPG vibes. Not sure this is any good though I did complete the demo and I'll definitely check out the full game just to see what else it has to offer store.steampowered.com/app/3252840/...

Slimg looks intriguing, I like the simplistic visuals and the game seems to lean on exploration a lot, but since it's in Chinese, I have no idea what I'm doing. I keep an eye out to see if it gets a translation store.steampowered.com/app/3340930/...

Katanaut looked cool on screenshots. Aims for the same niche as Dead Cells, only with worse controls (attacking means movement, you can't attack & remain standing still), visuals where background and characters are hard to distinguish, and boring level design store.steampowered.com/app/3032830/...

The game's name is the program here, Microvania. Every few years there's one of those games that don't break any new ground but just do a small tiny metroidvania with fun exploration and some action. Definitely enjoyable if you like the genre store.steampowered.com/app/3351870/...

Coral & The Abyss, top-down action adventure (would be my guess) with an intentionally off-putting but also compelling weird world, control scheme is slightly off but not wrong, seems to lean into exploration and simple combat, what little I played was fun store.steampowered.com/app/3123920/...

First game I really look forward to. It's a sequel to a mostly forgotten C64 game (never played it) that feels more inspired by Super Castlevania and is more of a conventional classicvania than a metroidvania. Good controls, lovely pixel graphics, fun gameplay store.steampowered.com/app/2384730/...

Another game that looked great on screenshots but playing just a couple minutes cured any interest I had in this. Massive character sprites, unresponsive controls, input lag, repetitive enemies, this has it all. Shame store.steampowered.com/app/2651830/...

Mismatched graphical assets, weird visual glitches, otherwise feels like a game I would have enjoyed in, like 1994 or so as shareware. Top-down action RPG with minimal stats and mouse-aimed shooting. Not great, not terrible, just nothing really outstanding store.steampowered.com/app/506710/T...

Checked the Moadra demo. Very atmospheric. I don't like some of the controls and how large the character sprite is. Hard to gauge how well the story will turn out but it is something I keep an eye on even if I'm not entirely convinced I'll enjoy it store.steampowered.com/app/1713730/...

Checked out the Twilight Monk demo. The game looks awesome on screenshots, controls are tight. It's a Hollow Knight-like though more generic with terrible writing and the main character has a pointless gimmick weapon used maybe at three points in the game. Meh store.steampowered.com/app/1911940/...

The THYSIASTERY demo is pretty fun, I like the mood it conveys, the GUI is functional and easy to grasp (though opening map with M and not closing it again with M is bad design), I like the way combat works so far

Weird thought of the day, if vampires existed, r/datahoarder would be full of them, or alternatively, the health of physical media is an indicator of how many vampires are still around
