Conversation Starter

Compatible with my belief that we are entering a golden age for indie productions. There's incredible talent available if you're willing to open your eyes and see it. They see a meager social media following. I see value, and a unique opportunity to build something amazing.

Just a tweet from the heart today: If you’re passionate about what you believe, remember... the goal of a conversation isn’t to 'win' but to understand. Listening doesn’t mean conceding. It means staying curious to learn what drives others and then maturing your own perspective.

Branding is fun.

Many people probably already know this, but this line of Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back was completely adlibbed by Harrison Ford. It serves as a great reminder why you should not put your actors in a box. Sometimes they can rescue you from a weak, scripted moment. Let them act!

What is this BlueSky starter pack thing? Can I just add @meredithnudo.bsky.social 6 times?

Lots of new followers lately, so I'll leave this here in case you haven't seen the first two teasers for our upcoming prologue: Dance with the Devil. www.youtube.com/channel/UCa3...

Our team of freelancers has grown rapidly over the past few weeks. Their amazing work and insight will launch us forward this coming year. Already seeing incredible progress on all fronts!

Well, it happened again. When I first heard his voice, Hubert McCarthy blew me away with a sound so unique that I had to create a character for him. Can't wait to hear him bring the character of Arnold Decker to life. Hubert, welcome to Greasepunk Paradise!

We just published the next iteration of our Roadmap to our website to provide a better viewing experience for both desktop and mobile users. This new version will scale better as we plan out all the milestones toward our first major release.

Only a few days left to get your audition file to us for the role of Cecelia. If you missed out on our opportunities this year, we’ll be back in 2025 with an entirely new cast of characters for open auditions.

This applies to VO, too. Specializing in two or three media is way better for your sanity, but the best actors I know, with the most sustainable careers, still indulge their curiosity. They get lessons in other media & performing arts and nurture interests not adjacent to VO. Be well-rounded.

Calling all Freelance 2D Concept Environment Artists out there! Interested in working with us? We just posted a freelance position on our website (link below in comments). We'd love to hear from you!

For any of you 2D Environment Concept Artists out there: we will be advertising a few paid freelancer opportunities to begin crafting the many locations of our world. More details to come on our website after the New Year holiday.

If you're interested in auditioning for the role of Cecelia in our upcoming animated web comic series, you still have about 2 weeks to do so! More details on our website.

One challenge for small, indie storytellers like us is achieving true diversity and inclusion early on. It requires *more* than just research. As our team grows, we plan to hire writers who can create authentic, inclusive stories rooted in wisdom gained from personal experience.

Today we are very excited to welcome @simonalison.bsky.social and @voicesbycorey.newgrounds.com to our rapidly growing cast of voice actors, and we are eager to begin recording with them after the holiday break! Thanks to all who auditioned for these roles! We couldn't do this without your support.

Website tip: If you use social media as a means to network and find VO work, then we highly recommend you make your website as mobile friendly as possible. Here's just one metric from our own website showing that mobile users dominate more than half of our total website traffic.

We are absolutely delighted to share that @micthematt.com accepted our direct offer for the role of Dimitri! We can't wait to start working with him early next year when we begin recording for season 1. I don't think we could have found a better match for our spy hunter.

We just published an early iteration of our Roadmap to our website, which we'll use to show what we plan to accomplish in the near future. We'll continue to add more items further out into future quarters as overall project planning continues.

Many people have reached out asking about our VO audition schedule beyond 2024. As of today, we have *at least* ten more roles penciled in for auditions for early 2025 while we begin pre-production of season 1. We will be doing some direct casting and closed auditions as well.

Auditions for the roles of Alaster and Nate are officially closed, and we have just released the audition package for Cecelia on our website. Auditions for Cecelia will be accepted until December 30. Thanks again to all who auditioned with us! Your support has been incredible!

Valentine is our first character designed together with the help of the voice actor. We think @ellierodz.bsky.social provided some incredible tips for us to make Valentine stand out as a memorable character in our universe, and we love how it turned out! Thanks Ellie!

Today we are excited to announce the newest addition to our cast. When @ellierodz.bsky.social shared her demos with us we were blown away, and so we began crafting a character for her in our story. She'll be voicing Valentine, a retired rock star turned Greasepunk Rock Radio DJ.

Apologies if we've been quiet over here this week. We are currently recovering from a seasonal bug. We're still on schedule to open up auditions for the role of Cecelia this coming Monday. We'll be releasing the audition package on our website some time over this weekend.

Time for another random showcase of the art style used for our animated web comic series.

Holidays have quickly snuck up on some people intending to audition with us, so we're extending the audition deadline for Alaster and Nate to the end of Friday, December 6 (Eastern Standard Time).

We are pleased to announce another two new cast members for our project! Congrats to @madisonmitts.bsky.social and @joeactor.bsky.social for bringing Natalie and Cal to life. Thanks again to all who auditioned, and we look forward to sharing many more opportunities in the coming months.

Today we're excited to announce our two newest cast members: Michelle Deco as Lucy and Stephen Murray as Max! They both offered outstanding performances, and we can't wait to see them bring these two characters to life in our story. Thanks to all who auditioned with us! 🤘

Watch out for this scammer … claiming to be from TransPerfect and tries getting you to contact them on WhatsApp …

In all seriousness though… this has been one of the most rewarding experiences by being able to engage with so many talented people. We just underestimated the amount of coffee we would need to get through over 1000 auditions.

Them: "How are those casting calls coming?" Me:

Good news: The Prologue script is 50% complete. Bad news: It’s an estimated runtime of 40 minutes. Guess we’re doing a two-parter now. Oh well. It’ll be fun.

Someone really needs to invent the graphic novel version of contracts. More pictures please.

After 3 days of attempting to write contracts, NDAs, and license agreements... I officially can say I'm a huge fan of lawyers.

Maybe this is why we have so many characters… 😅
