We need to use cars less and trains more. It’s that simple. This is data from the Office of Budget Responsibilty. obr.uk/forecasts-in...

NO KINGS ONLY TRAINS Put it on a t-shirt @greens4hs2.bsky.social 😎

Labour keep trying to attack @greenparty.org.uk In the Assembly - when I proposed an idea to reduce the amount the super rich can fly: they constantly tried to push back. Has it ever been clearer that Labour with the Tories exist solely to serve the rich & corporations?

GPEW supports HS2 in full. Labour, in government, are killing off rail investment and focussing on Heathrow.

While this government has ridden roughshod over climate rules and concentrated investment in London and the South East, Greens offer a different reality. With support for High Speed 2 in full and Northern Powerhouse Rail, we demand the north gets the investment it deserves. shorturl.at/vFPBn

Proud to be standing with @carladenyer.bsky.social and fellow @bristolgreenparty.bsky.social councillors against the expansion of Bristol Airport. The UK should be investing in high speed rail networks that interlink with our European neighbours, not more fossil-fueled air capacity.

Road building is expensive and threatens our climate targets. Induced demand means more roads lead to more car journeys and more traffic. We desperately need more national government funding for railways, buses and active travel.

This message might come from Bristol, but it’s true right around the country. Especially here in the North East. We need to see the cuts to local authorities reversed. For people, for planet. For our communities. Well said @robbryher.bsky.social

Excited to hear this morning from a Cllr friend in another part of England that they are going to use our motion on weight and emissions based parking charges in their own area. Excellent news. We will get there.

February is #BlackHistoryMonth and today, public transit agencies across the U.S. are celebrating what would have been the 112th birthday of civil rights activist Rosa Parks. She sparked a successful boycott against racial discrimination, leading to greater freedom of mobility and access to ...

Really glad Ed Miliband agrees that airport expansion can only take place within environmental limits. We know airport expansion is completely incompatible with reaching our climate targets, and therefore I look forward to hearing him confirm that govt won't back any expansion.

My sister on trying an ebike for the first time yesterday “I see why everyone always talks about e-bikes now.” Such a common response! E-bikes are game-changing.

Labour are sending lots of mixed messages in public. Apparently people in the party support Heathrow expansion. And some of them vocally don't. You're literally all in the same party though that is bulldozing ahead. Want Green? Join @greenparty.org.uk www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Waited for an hour in the freezing cold for this shot 🥶😅 #HS2

Despite the cuts I still believe #HS2 will still play a part in fixing the future, but to be truly transformational it needs to go to Crewe (as a minimum), Manchester and Leeds. @garethdennis.bsky.social

Bristol Airport is planning to expand AGAIN! It will mean more carbon emissions, more night flights, more cars on overstretched roads. And all this in a #climatecrisis. Help stop these mad plans by objecting - the deadline for comments is TOMORROW. lhttps://bristolairport-futureplans.co.uk/index.php

Are we allowed to talk about building HS2 in full (including the eastern leg) rather than airport expansion in the middle of a climate crisis?

No. And anyone who says it can is lying to you. Climate Emergency. There's a clue in the last word. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Starmer and Reeves are two of the worst members of the GDP growth cult. Chanting growth and deregulation🤦‍♂️ These mean the rich get richer, inequality grows wider and Earth burns🌍 @greenparty.org.uk would make peoples lives better not endlessly worship corporate interests✊💚

I am absolutely furious and terrified at this. Third runway at Heathrow, freezing fuel duty and hiking the bus cap: this Labour government are almost literally pouring petrol on the climate crisis. Shame on them.

Shame on this Labour government.

We need more investment in public transport which will reliably & affordably get workers from A to B so that public transport becomes the default option over cars. We do not need more aviation. It is incompatible with our climate commitments

Every day that goes by, it becomes clearer that the Labour government has completely abandoned any pretence of caring about a sustainable future. @greenparty.org.uk is the ONLY party with sustainability at the core of its programme. Join now and help us shift the dial!

It's brilliant news that more transport powers will be devolved. Local politicians know best what's needed & how to integrate the options locally. Now we need a mayor who will show leadership on this, which is something we've not seen from Labour.

I was very pleased to join this rally yesterday in support of the CAN Bill, alongside fellow @bristolgreenparty.bsky.social councillor @shonajemphrey.bsky.social. @carladenyer.bsky.social is co-proposing the Bill and Bristol Council officially supports it. We need Bristol's other MPs to do the same.

We can save the carbon equivalent of taking 10 million cars off the road if we simply take 10 million cars off the road.

Great 🧵 from @greenmattbfd.bsky.social on why providing reliable, accessible and affordable alternatives to driving matters. Leaving people feeling forced to own a car to make their daily journeys just worsens congestion and air pollution and leaves towns and cities grimly traffic-clogged.

At the moment disabled people and other marginalised groups are treated badly by our public transport system. As we seek to expand public transport to reduce car and plane use, we need to ensure it works for everyone.

🚸 Pavement parking is dangerous - especially for disabled people and children. 💰 The damage it causes costs local authorities £millions each year. 🟢 The public want to see action to tackle #PavementParking across England. 🚫 The last Conservative government failed to act. Now Labour must.

I wish everyone who talked about how hard it is to make high speed rail profitable also talked about how hard it is to make interstate highways profitable.
