Quick reminder that the majority of Americans live in cities, "real America" is urban, and when people scream obscenities about cities they are screaming obscenities about America.

That's a bunch of tankers for a Sunday.

Whoa there big fella, where you headed

this is what patrol cops should look like in most cases. you can make exceptions for particular types of calls or whatever, i'm not the dress code police, but, *generally speaking*, it should be easy to identify who is police at a distance without trying to figure out if they're a spree shooter.

can’t believe this still needs to be said, but: stop following altNPS. none of them work for the NPS and they exist to do Qanon numbers station crap and sell merch. it’s annoying for a lot of us that are actually NPS. thanks

a thing i find annoying about the murdered out, all black tactical look that patrol cops have adopted is that all black makes you harder to see and identify, which should ostensibly be a high priority for patrol

in terms of police, i think this would legitimately make their jobs easier, too. people at the protests yesterday responded very differently to the liaison officers (white button downs, grey pants, minimal accessories) than they did the tactical units.

Small but underrated part of restoring healthier civ-mil norms would be retreating from the fucking OPERATOR TACTICAL aesthetic of service members to more traditional dress uniforms, etc. in terms of public presentation, etc. People that have desk jobs should wear the desk job uniforms, for example

America's police are basically a civil-paramilitary crisis that has been in full swing for decades, hundreds of thousands of armed agents of the state who aren't really accountable to the democratic elected officials

i think everyone on the left should more or less aggressively grab on to the legacy of FDR's war liberalism and shove it down the throat of every fascist until they cannot breath

Political violence is not an incidental risk which they are merely negligent about managing and policing. It is their Schmittian central premise. Political violence against their enemies *is* the ideology itself. That's what illiberal populism is. There's no such thing as a peaceful form of it.

I'm going to restrict myself to one (two part) comment, which is: 1) the entire range runs from execs making 290x what their workers make to execs making 350x what their workers make, and 2) this should frame everything else such execs encourage you to be mad about

I need to do laundry and eat something and have another coffee but Tormod is snoring under my desk so I won't be getting to any of that

It is firmly in the “somebody’s making an active decision to downplay this” territory.

It's pretty obvious that a lot of US mainstream media either doesn't recognise authoritarianism or doesn't want to call it out. Either way, it's an excellent way to destroy trust in your institution.

This applies to all sports but - and I am not joking - it is absolutely something best understood by a baseball man.

A common and recurrent theme in Christian discussions of Satanism and the Satanic (in the theological sense, not referring to the atheistic club the Church of Satan) is the idea that the Satanic is an inversion of Christianity that both masquerades as and mocks Christian teaching.

Dem leaders want to work with Republicans. Republicans want to destroy Democrats. We know this. So here's a takeaway from the protests: They proved the Democratic approach is unnecessary. We have always outnumbered them. There's no reason to seek bipartisanship. Generate enthusiasm instead.

Thousands of Christians are being rounded up and deported by the U.S. government, but they’re not cottagecore tradmoms or their homeschooled goat milk enthusiasts, so these guys are fine with it. Actually, they’re thrilled.

It’s not worth publically tut-tutting people who go and try to get the most radical looking image of themselves, because that would require a level of coordination that is not possible. But these are the sort of images we want to come out of a protest that the cops crack down on.

here’s the moment LASD advanced on protestors with horses and used flash-bangs as we reported live yesterday. www.msnbc.com/msnbc/amp-vi...

Vance Boelter assassinating Minnesota lawmakers is just a slightly more direct version of what Kristi Noem is threatening to do by 'liberating' California and I think it's important that people understand that

Yeah the flag scolds sucked but they did make this photo happen

ok maybe the American flag scolds had a point, this photo goes hard

Truly wild photos coming in from Los Angeles right now.

not to lib out but when was the last time a news reporter was on the ground, on national television, and directly attributed blame to the police for violence and brutality

How many more examples before people understand that transphobia is violence

God I wish the simmer burner on my stove still worked

Andor and Brueggemann is the very specific nerd crossover tailor made for me and like 6 other guys I didn't know I needed today

Ferguson was really an eye opener for me. I was watching live streams on Twitter seeing multiple people from multiple angles document something in real time and then in the news the next day it would say the complete opposite of what I saw. truly rewrote my lifelong neural pathways

this is grim in the particulars because innocent people are getting hurt and killed but ticky tack, scattered and disorganized violence against 3% of the country protesting in the streets does not look to me like a winning hand
