I think this is a cruel angle and the soldier is actually standing off to one side, but jeez, NEVER point a gun at anything you don't want to die

Genuinely helpful, thank you

Rimmer's mum once bought the boys a rushed lunch from Gregg's when they were on a daytrip and the shame still haunts him

Oh @ryannorth.ca is NOT DB Cooper? Huh. I'd heard something different. OK, thanks for the info!

Dave Lister definitely knew the taste of a Gregg's sausage roll

Isn't he in preseason training?

I used to listen to a US podcast with 1 host with a TERRIBLE Michael Caine impression. Just the worst. Anyhoo I think you could dial a random UK number and say "Do a Michael Caine impression" and most Brits would have it ready to go

I searched in vain on the Guardian for any analysis of what the strikes had actually achieved. Mostly the reporting focuses on what tweets people done

Brilliant! I love the turns this takes

The cowards have trimmed it out of the BBC Sounds upload :(

I agree it is nice to do nothing. By which I mean read a book while listening to music or something. Do some people literally 'do nothing'?

One of my hobbies is explaining to people outside academia how academic publishing works and getting some combination of "Wait, what?" and "That can't be right"

Reflecting on this, I've been voraciously consuming Outer Wilds content on YT since finishing the game. The devs are engaging, thoughtful people who it's very fun to listen to. Yet have I managed to remember any of their names? I have not. Sorry Outer Wilds devs, you are great.

I wonder if partially this is because games are so collaborative, but then it's not exactly like movies aren't. But somehow we've convinced ourselves of the all powerful movie director calling all the shots (literally)

Not sure the Russkies have the numbers anymore!

I genuinely once found my way in NW London using the north star. Got on the wrong night bus drunk, leapt off once I realised, didn't know where I was except that if I walked north I'd hit the A5 and get my bearings. Starry night so why not. It worked!

I love this game. It's so hard, but in a way you win or lose this battle in the previous levels. The runs where I've managed to beat the final boss, it's felt easy thanks to the set-up I've ended up with. When I've failed it's felt impossible!

Everything I hear about Andor is either people saying it's great without explaining why, or people explaining details of the actual show that sound terrible

They are also a 62 year old white male who lives in Doncaster. There is not another voter
comment in response to post
The imaginary voter is a very strange beast. They live in 2029 and the things we know about them are: 1) they have perfect recall of everything politicians did for the last five years 2) their opinions are carved in unobtainium and impossible to change (except by Reform)

Debris can't go anywhere except the flight path. Planet is big, rocket is small

if you force universities to cut the cheaper subjects you are also forcing them to cut the more expensive subjects, this is not rocket science or brain surgery (both of which are cross-subsidized from media studies!!!!)

On every level, in every way, Labour can win this. But to do that, the party will need to defend its position rather than scurry away and submit to whatever nonsense the Right is saying. Generally it's hopeless at doing that. Perhaps today will be better.

Gif recorded just before the kickback on the cannon forced it into a stall and it crashed off screen

Oh no! Is the election tomorrow?
comment in response to post
We don't seem able to elect a government that can do anything except campaign. Reform have 4 MPs. They can be safely ignored for years while Lab get on with running the country
