I spent my career in the conservative legal movement. When the time for choosing came, most chose power over principle. I'm sticking with principle. And I welcome to the fight those who, just this week, for whatever reason, have reached their breaking point.

The interesting question isn't the relationship between Trump and Leonard Leo or the Federalist Society; the interesting question is whether the Trump-led GOP is any longer, in any meaningful sense, a "constitutionalist conservative" party.

I spoke with Bloomberg Law about Trump's turn against the conservative legal movement and what it might portend: news.bloomberglaw.com/us-law-week/...

US Court of International Trade just issued decision in case against Trump tariffs filed by Liberty Justice Center and me. All "Liberation Day"/IEEPA tariffs ruled illegal, and blocked by injunction! See link for opinion. I will have much more to say soon: www.cit.uscourts.gov/sites/cit/fi...

This is an outrageous and unacceptable nomination. This is a test of Senate Republicans and the conservative legal movement. This is a nomination that must fail. trib.al/LSuSAX6

“The cornerstone of the American system of justice is an independent judiciary and an independent bar willing to tackle unpopular cases, however daunting,” Judge Leon wrote in a 73-page opinion. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/27/u...

The president's pardon power is meant to advance justice and promote national reconciliation. The increasingly scandalous abuse of the pardon power by successive presidents undermines justice and deepens divisions.

"Some allies of the administration are inviting the constitutional crisis... because they want to enfeeble our judiciary and destroy our system of checks and balances," said Gregg Nunziata www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...

NEW: President Trump's plan to accept a Qatari jet for use as Air Force 1 raises serious corruption risks. CREW President @noahbookbinder.bsky.social & @greggnunziata.bsky.social sent a letter urging Congress to hold a bipartisan hearing assessing the effects of this gift.

NEW: In a letter today, @greggnunziata.bsky.social from the Society for the Rule of Law and I called on congressional leaders to hold a public hearing right away on the potential corruption and national security concerns related to a $400 million luxury jet from Qatar. Real oversight is needed.

I always had mixed feelings about blue slips for circuit court positions, but a nomination like this would be impossible in a strong blue slip regime. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/19/u...

My son just pointed out to me that His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, as a Villanova graduate, may well be the first supreme pontiff who has been to a Wawa

By signaling it would not confirm Ed Martin as U.S. Attorney, the Senate performed its Constitutional duty to "prevent the appointment of unfit characters." The people of the district--and all Americans--deserve a nominee who will put the rule of law first.

I spoke with Roll Call about the Trump Executive Orders targeting law firms and the threats they pose to the rule of law. rollcall.com/2025/05/06/t...

I spoke with U.S.A. Today, about U.S. Attorney nominee Ed Martin's manifest unfitness for the role. www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...

No fair application of any neutral standard would justify this confirmation. No senator of either party would want the mirror image of this from the other party. Americans, conservative and liberal, should unite to reject this naked attempt to allow partisans and henchmen to capture law enforcement.

I am a former Chief Nominations Counsel for Senate Judiciary Committee Republicans. I feel very strongly about this one. Ed Martin should never have been nominated, should not be confirmed, and should not be permitted to serve a single additional day. Our letter explains why.

"At stake is not just the reputation of a handful of law firms, but the integrity of the legal system itself." Check out this op-ed by our Board Member Peter Keisler, written alongside former Associate AG Vanita Gupta: thehill.com/opinion/judi...

Today, the Society for the Rule of Law Institute sent a letter urging the Senate Judiciary Committee to reject Ed Martin’s nomination as U.S. Attorney for D.C., citing concerns about his conduct and record. 📜 Read the full letter here: societyfortheruleoflaw.org/wp-content/u...

Hey Phoenix, come out to support the rule of law. See you on May 13. societyfortheruleoflaw.org/rule-of-law-...

I mean, yes, the GOP is now led by people who were Democrats just a few years ago.

America badly needs conservative legal voices dedicated to defending the rule of law, the Constitution, and our democracy. If you agree, please consider joining or supporting us at the Society for the Rule of Law (@chkbal). societyfortheruleoflaw.org/membership/ societyfortheruleoflaw.org/support/

@greggnunziata.bsky.social in today's @washingtonpost.com: "Even if you assume the worst about Mr. Abrego García, he still is entitled to the protection of the law and due process. We should not accept the president narrowing our rights and liberties simply because it appears useful in the moment.”

Trump is doing bad things. On the economy, on foreign policy, and the Rule of Law. With nowhere near majority support. Too many people on the right fear the left more. Now is the time the left and the right must rally for the best of America and reject this binary.

This is a deeply disgraceful and dishonorable moment in our history. The U.S. is not standing for peace, law, or democracy, it's standing for forced capitulation to authoritarian aggression. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/23/w...

Peter Keisler is a hero of the conservative legal movement and a deeply principled and patriotic American. We are fortunate to have him on our board at the Society for the Rule of Law (@chkbal.bsky.social ). Consider giving this conversation with @davidfrum.bsky.social a listen.

We at the Society for the Rule of Law hosted a conversation about impoundments today. In case you missed it, you can catch the replay here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVw1...

The secular media can't help but frame church leaders in political terms. It's worth remembering that Pope Francis, whom they considered a "progressive", was an extremely eloquent and forceful opponent of abortion and advocate of life. www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/249172/...
