honestly, firing the JAGs is maybe even more alarming than just going after CQ and Franchetti

Accurate

Those who uphold the rule of law save their country.

Okay, so at the request of the lovely @trance.bsky.social , I'm going to tell a story about what happens when a shitty person is "just joking", and then discovers there are consequences. AKA That Time Kat Started An Antifascist Hallway Riot In The Third Grade. Grab your beverage of choice.

i need a 52 year old man with $800 billion to impregnate my wife . i am worried our offspring wont be sufficiently feeble and/or annoying

In any other administration, Congress would be rushing to hold emergency hearings demanding immediate answers and explanations on the firings of nuclear staff. But this Republican Congress probably won't do a thing.

STOP EVERYTHING AND READ THIS 🔥🔥🔥

One of our supporters shared this with us—people are getting creative tonight!

Blast this out to every PTA in America

“MaYbe shE’s goiNg to be in TroUble nOw” Maybe he can learn to read. The Constitution would be a good place to start

Hey look, it's the same Rx "plan" that's caused me to be without my meds for a month!

I will put it this way: if I am facing down an armed agent of the state and relying on them not being willing to pull the trigger on me I would much rather that person be in the army than be a cop

Indeed there is nothing more American than "ranch" flavor, it is in the top three of American Cultural Achievements, along with jazz and turning right at a red light

This reads like the opening paragraph of a novel so bleakly dystopian you'd put it down after five pages

my view is that as soon as the administration froze disbursement of congressional appropriations we entered constitutional crisis territory

“The walkout was organized in part by an eighth-grade student who is not yet 14 years old, she and her mother said in a joint phone interview…The student said that she and other students decided to act after seeing how Trump’s executive orders would target diversity events.” Tiny badasses

During WW2 the US army needed over 750,000 typewriters to keep things functioning across all theatres. The need was so great they requisitioned civilian typewriters and created a national shortage. Typewriter repair units were seen as critical army personel. I'll do a thread on it at some point.

Uh, welcome to the resistance, Sam?

What I find almost more significant about this than the actual story itself is that it’s a leak. From the NSA. The NSA does not usually do a whole lot of leaking. Somebody is Pissed. Off.

It takes me around 4 hours a day to feel actually awake and functional enough to work. People say "work with your adhd not against it" but four hours a day is a lot. Imagine having four hours less every day. That adds up to 60 fewer days per year. When I look at it like that it's pretty upsetting.

This is it. This is the take.

Is it cliche to say "cooked" at this point? Because we're so fucking cooked.

59 years ago today, mild-mannered jim bowl was bitten by a radioactive spider

the origin of the name Guybrush Threepwood is one of my favorite things in video games they didn’t have a name for the Monkey Island protagonist at the time so they saved the sprite as “guy” the file was a “brush” file in Deluxe Paint so the artist saved it as “guybrush.bbm” and, well, it stuck

How is it being enforced and who by, is what I'd like to hear reported. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/07/n...

I've got to say, the guy who accidentally became the Director of the FBI does 100% look like the guy who accidentally becomes the Director of the FBI in a mid-2000s comedy about a guy who accidentally becomes the Director of the FBI

Broke: do speeches all night on the Senate floor to a mostly empty chamber Woke: "Mr. President, I move to compel the attendance of absent senators by directing the sergeant-at-arms to arrest members and bring them to the chamber." That's a real thing, you can do that. It's in the Constitution.
