Exciting times for people who wanted a documentary-style sitcom about Q and Moneypenny

we really need to put up a monument to the person who wrote the I Never Thought Leopards Would Eat My Face tweet

They say no man is an island, but I know what I saw out there. Islandman is real.

Dorothy day!!!!!!

David Lynch gave us the language we needed to better articulate the indescribable strangeness of our shared reality. “Lynchian” is so overused because it’s a viscerally understandable word without any known synonyms. I can’t imagine a more beautiful artistic legacy than that.

hi, descendant of brooklyn theater jews who got hauled in to rat on their neighbors and friends by mccarthy's goons here, any studio, director, producer who works with these people should be condemned, their work ignored, their careers ruined

A secular mystic of the everyday joys & deep existential horrors of American life. Like so many I have been profoundly influenced by David Lynch. There is before & after. My view of art irrevocably changed. Vale Maestro. I hope the coffee is black and strong on the other side.

A good joke a firefighter friend once told me: What do cops and firefighters have in common? They both wanted to be firefighters

For anyone wondering where / how to submit short fiction, or seeking a comprehensive “ranking” of lit mags (and what that means), I love this list by Erika Krouse. (Just sent a long email to a friend about publishing, so it’s on my mind!) www.erikakrousewriter.com/erika-krouse...

Revisiting a modern classic

Oh, fuckin hell yeah!

The point of reading is rereading. The reason to read a novel is to test whether it's a novel you'll have the pleasure of rereading someday down the road.

BLUE SKY STATLER: Is this supposed to be a joke? What do you mean by that? BLUESKY WALDORF: If it's meant to be a joke, it's in pretty bad taste! (the two of them sit in total silence)

Happy 45th to one of the best albums ever made. London Calling will still change your life youtu.be/LQ82BX0hGBM

For about ten years I've thought about what a Tom Waits TV Christmas special produced in the early 80s would have been like. It's almost real to me. The set is a Depression-era shack he built and a stream of celebrity hobos keep knocking on the door and Tom goes "I wOnDEr WHo tHaT cOuLd bE"

I know Academic Bluesky is not peak Academic Twitter (c. 2021), but I don’t know where else to ask this: If you have taught my work in any capacity, could you let me know? I, and my tenure file, thank you.

Has science gone too far?
