And then a bunch of people are going to get hurt, which is why this policy exists in the first place, not bc friggin' prison officials are "woke." When that happens, the Administration will blame prison administrators or DEI even though they're the ones who caused it. Bet on it.

TIL that the Billboard Liberation Front exists and produces zines. ✊

What a great cover!

This hypothesis has plenty of empirical support.See especially, Identity Crisis by Sides, Vavreck, and Tesler.Laid out plainly in the public opinion/political attitude/partisanship data between 2008 - 2016. White folks sorted into anti racists and “racial conservatives”/neo-segregationists.

Since I've posted a couple of threads about black umpires from the Texas negro leagues recently, I wanted to RT this out so I'd be able to find it again.

I mean, I think we know. There are few good things about the Trump II era, but one of them is all the new ways it's become possible to distinguish the courageous from the chickenshit. This was needed. I'm reminded daily of Maya Angelou's advice: When someone shows you who they are, believe them.

Come for the racy headline, stay for the backstory of the aftermath of a Texas case at Fort Hood where a female soldier was bludgeoned to death and Trump responded to the funeral bill by declaring, “It doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a fucking Mexican!”

There are so many examples of cognitive dissonance around every policy and action by this administration, it seems impossible anyone actually believes they're acting in good faith. But one need only read the Wall Street Journal comments section or visit The Bad Place to see many ppl do.

With every Ukraine news story my 1st thought is that 'm glad my Greatest Generation relatives have all passed away and don't have to witness America bullying European democracies and kowtowing to Russian dictators. They'd be furious about all the men they knew whose sacrifices are being dishonored.

Why does he hate Texas agriculture so much? It's like every other policy he announces is designed to f*** them.

We don't bother w/ stuff like appropriations anymore, that's more of a past presidents thing. DT does whatever he wants w/ the money and the Rs in Congress don't seem particularly interested in protecting their authority/autonomy. Expecting democratic accountability for spending is SO last year.

Now that negro-league stats have been integrated into MLB numbers, many baseball records have been rejiggered, which receives much attention. For me, though, it also emphasizes the tragedy of the lost historical record. Ably demonstrating the magnitude of this loss is the career of Reuben Jones.

I love this article w/ my whole heart and adjusted my Youtube playlists accordingly. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/18/t...

BTW, if you live in Austin, care about sports, and have never heard of Richard "Night Train" Lane, you owe it to yourself to drop everything and spend the next 20 minutes googling his story.

If Elon thinks Adam Schiff is a "criminal,' let's stop all the bullshit and get to the bottom of it.

Austin political friends, pls help me w/ this.

What Austin groups are engaged in trying to get more arts funding? DM w/ contacts. The folks doing the Community Investment Budget are struggling to find a champion, and the current arts funding system is a bit of a mess.
