I'm not so sure. If high unemployment becomes the problem, it will be exploited by the right wing just as effectively and become fulcrum for further eroding worker's rights.

At the heart of this is the same lie that Republicans have been peddling since Reagan, "cutting taxes increases growth enough to pay for the tax cuts." It's all just trickle-down snake oil. Same old shit in a shittier package.

And people believe them. That's the craziest part. They could tell their base that gravity doesn't exist, and they would all start jumping off cliffs because they can fly now. Which, is not necessarily a bad thing.
