fires, have lower flame lengths, and produce less embers during windy fire events, thereby being less of a threat to adjacent communities (compared to shrubland fires)?
I guess I am just wondering about shrubland vs. grass fires in terms of community safety.

Congratulations on these papers, Krista!
As I am most familiar with forest fires, I have a question:
I get it that conversion to grass is 'bad' because the grasses are non-native and the grass perpetuates more fire. That said, would those grass fires be easier to control than shrubland ...

As we describe in the review, climate analogs and analog impact models are a potential alternative to standard species distribution models and mechanistic models.
Congratulations to lead author Svetlana Yegorova; this is the first chapter of Svetlana's dissertation.

Using the present-day information at the locations of these climate analogs (e.g. species presence/absence, agricultural productivity, vegetation type, etc.) allows for projections of future changes.

Spatial climate analogs are present-day places that share similar climates to those projected for a given location in the future. Climate analogs contextualize and can help us prepare for climate change by answering a simple question: “Where can I find the climate of my future, today?”
