Enjoy your summer break! Time for my busy season, like two ships passing in the night. I love seeing all the vacation photos from educator friends.

Literally told someone āNo thank you, I donāt work here and Iām off the clock.ā Twice last week while waiting for a checkout. I donāt self checkout if I donāt have to. M

Iām excited for you to eventually get the organ up and running. Organ recitals just hit differently in a sanctuary.

You will appreciate this. Yrs ago in college in TX. Lots of classmates from out of state. One classmate who survived the Moore tornado. Sirens go off. Folks look to me, OK walks in āhey thereās a tornado out there if anyone needs to move their car a block down to safetyā.

Iām sure it will be way too hot, way too soon. So Iām letting myself enjoy being cold. I can always add more layers.

I hope I helped inspire some fun things for you to try out. Best of luck on both ventures. Upholstery seems really interesting.

Seriously, I am retreating to audiobooks from the library and any kind of creative work for some tiny nugget of peace and goodness.

Maybe will put that aside for now. At the moment I just want chill books. No romance.

I just discovered that one of the largest library systems in my state allows all state residents to get a library card. Iām thrilled because my local library is only open 3 days a week.

I grew up near Dallas, too. I was wondering if it was more rural, TX regional, or both. I had a teacher with a thick WTX accent who said āso-dee waterā.

(Howdy fellow Texan) Do you mind me asking what part of Texas?

To clarify I donāt doubt that at some point enough people called bell peppers āmangoā or generic soda āCokeā for it to be a cultural footnote, but at least from my experience it seems to have passed out of fashion generations ago.

Now Iām thinking about the rusted rods and pivot screws while Iām sitting here at work repadding a clarinet. Marching band is brutal on instruments.

This must be like the āTexans call all sodas Coke*ā because I have family in āmangoā states and no one uses that term⦠theyāre farmers too.
* still waiting to hear someone say that and not mean Coca cola

I have absolutely no idea! Today I had a chef talk my ear off about cults and North Korean state media/entertainment.

I would not have thought they could throw down like that. I assumed they would be the ātalk your ear off about a niche special interestā crowd.

As a musician, free food is always a win. And that sounds like incredible people watching opportunities too.

Oh! And thank you for mentioning you are an author. Iāll check out your work. Been making a conscious effort to āget back to basicsā (reading books & listening to full albums)

Fair point. I have friends that work in digital preservation / special collections. I LOVE weirdness and weird stories. My favorite times are when the research chemist, author, archivist, & myself get together. We have ānerd timeā.

One of my fellow church musicians misheard the lyrics of a song we were performing as āsavior on a manateeā so this checks out.
