Something to remember: ppl who don't draw are often inexperienced in observing and commenting on art. They try to connect w/ it on familiar grounds, which means relating it to something they know and understand. Often, people relating your work to other things is them trying to relate to it in turn.

One of my hobbies is watching VTubers play F-Zero GX, because they naturally gravitate toward Story Mode right at the beginning, entirely unaware that F-Zero GX's story mode is insanely fucking difficult and meant for after you've played a few rounds in Grand Prix, generally on Standard difficulty.
