Geography professor here. The extension of the Atlantic Ocean into the southeastern North American landmass is the 'Gulf of Mexico.' It was named by Spanish explorers in the 1500s (Golfo de México). The name has been in use for 500 years. Nothing has changed. 1559 map. Note the name.👇

This is called diamond dust (IC for ice crystals in aviation terms). It rarely occurs as far south as Tennessee, but at 9° F/-13 C it can happen. It’s not snow. The sky was clear.
