I'm imaging them waiting in all the lines at the National Parks in the summer, complaining. Getting hospitalized for stuff that coulda been prevented, complaining. Having to eat their words when their jobs end due to the govt slash and burn. Yep, sorry guys. Gonna walk the talk now.
They'll hate the food poisoning from un-inspected food, and the train crashes from deregulation, and those plane crashes due to a gutted FAA... could go on and on.
They also tend to work with Food Not Bombs, so I'm kinda surprised to hear you've only had negative experiences. I've managed to stay p far away from ancaps though
well if you're talking to people who call themselves anarcho-capitalists then you'll have a bad time. consider an interest in Kropotkin to be an (imperfect) litmus test of who is applying anarchist theory generously instead of selfishly
Anarchists live in a self-contained very small bubble thinking they are able to run society if others didn't stop them. Same with Marxists and all other fringe groups. That mostly comes out of plenty, cosplaying 1936 Barcelona. Leadership is a real thing, and those circles don't practice it.
Anarchists are also the reason we don't currently have full blown fascism. Anarchists have known exactly which way the world is heading for years. While liberals were patting themselves on the back for being inclusive, anarchists were fighting the battles that mattered.
What these conspiracy fools don't realize is that it the U.S. Constitution has given them the space to be stupid and medical science that can cure a lotta things, but stupid ain't one of 'em.
Someone with less empathy than me would say to let the natural selection run its course.
Survival of the fittest doesn't always apply to physical traits. Mental traits incompatible with the survival of the species probably also play a role in the gene pool maintenance.
Being an anti-vaxxer in the U.S. was easy—because vaccines had already done their job. Before vaccines and modern medicine, 30–50% of people didn’t make it to 18. Want a simple way to visualize that? Take a six-sided die. Roll it. If you get a 1 or 2, you're gone. That was life before vaccines.
You hit the nail on the head, it’s the complacency of modern life in the west. We’ve benefited so much from medical and scientific advances and public health programmes that people forget there was a time when life was short and brutal.
Definitely don't believe everything you're told. Verify for yourself whenever you can.
But I agree that people who reject or fail to discern reality put everybody at risk. The vast majority of vaccines are low-risk and effective, and herd immunity helps protect people who can't get vaccinated.
I would like to believe this to be true but time and time again psychological researched shows that when someone is given contrary information to their deeply held beliefs they tend to just believe it more strongly. The dose of reality will go right above their heads.
While that does happen the majority of the time, as long as you can sway ENOUGH people back so that reason can again take the wheel and there isn't as much nonsense out there, that is still a victory.
that poorly written article is full of assumptions and stereotypes.Bottom line is there is a huge difference between the vaccines of our youth and these RNA vaccines. To not doubt the safety of an untested product is absolute idiocy . In America you can't force us , well you kinda did, but not again
How can a highly educated person not see that the article is full of unfounded rambling and rife with assumption? wouldn't you have to take some english classes as part of the degrees ?. to say " i believe in vaccines" while not recognizing there are many types of vaccines seems ignorant to me .
The sad thing is that probably the greatest sufferers will be the babies & small children not the bastards who have deprived them of their vaccines & medical care.
I decided at an early age I probably shouldn't have children. I told this to my abusive mother the other day. She told me I'm making it up.
I don't understand. It's OBVIOUS that society is KILLING US. Just grinding people up for nothing. HOW SELFISH DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO INTRODUCE NEW LIFE HERE?
Rather like house cats, the conspiracists exude the conviction of their bold and fiercely declaimed independence, all the while utterly dependent on a system they don’t appreciate or understand.
Had a student one year whose parent was a conspiracy nut. Class discussions were always strange. He brought several crystals to “balance the classroom “. I don’t think it affected test scores.
This was definitely a contributing factor!
Mainstream media was absolutely controlled, & journalists were not asking hard ?? and calling out lies-That forced people to search out alternatives.
Another aspect was Democrats unwillingness to hit below the belt nearly as much as they should have! IMO
Democrats are way too timid on almost every discussion, in effort to look more professional. This made them sound disconnected. "My colleague is misinformed at best" has nowhere near the same impact as "He's stealing your money & lying to your face." Republicans took advantage of this at every turn.
And one would be wrong. It always cost, either money or seeing/watching ads. But aggregators and social media took most profit out. No profit no professionals to do well thought out and researched reporting. I want that back and if you do too you can pay the small fucking monthly Times cost.
Sure and you can go to a library, at least in the US, or even read online via the library. There is always a way while also ensuring most who can do so are paying for journalists to actually make a living.
Somehow you're excluding a large number of professionally trained folk who are writing well thought out & researched pieces outside of paywall systems or biased upper management. While I agree that the NYT has its place, so too does free journalism. The tools are more available than ever to do so.
I'm sorry, but Covid-19 ravaged the world 4 years ago. No crystals or homeopathy resolved this pandemic. It was science. Now, we've reelected the idiot who bumbled us into that nightmare & have a hhs secretary who's anti science.
🫠🫠🫠 god forbid human beings heal from a highly communicable disease before returning to close-quarters offices. Imagine the setback if EVERYONE is off sick. 🙃
Some people took issue when I said that science resolved the Covid pandemic. That's an over generalization by a non medical professional. My point is that people w jobs that were science related did a lot more to get us through the pandemic than crystals.
No vaccine solved the pandemic, because no vaccine cures it. The vaccine played its part in reducing the severity of the disease. Homeopathy did its part in reducing the number of hospitalizations and symptoms associated with mild and moderate COVID.
Do not focus on the MAGGOTS. They are to deep in the self-brain washing process and will follow their #antiamericanpresidentrump to their graves if necessary.
Focus on the millions of Americans that have not voted and those who realise they made a mistake!
🎯
been thinking about this for years ... the question is whether society can widthstand these 'stress tests' ... Popper's Paradox on intollerance comes to mind
The biggest problem is that too many Americans don't know consequences because they spend too much time hiding in their reality bubbles. MAGA is the most pathetic reality bubble of all.
Agreed. And we need to do everything to see their bubble burst and let reality in.
That means sharing true information to counter their Disinformation Ambassadors at every turn.
They'll never accept their error, nor admit that they could possibly be wrong about anything, because they want to be just like their god-emperor idiot-in-chief.
I think they'll just double down on the stupidity, like the flat earthers with the high tech gyroscope that proved themselves wrong, and they tried to figure out how to fit the data around their BELIEF rather than trust the experiments and evidence.
Even a moderately educated critical thinker understands causality. We're about to see the tragic fallout from society's failure to ensure an informed and thoughtful public when the protective guardrails are removed
I’m about to be 35 years old. I haven’t had any vaccination that I can vividly remember. I never get sick. I have gotten sick maybe three times in ten years. If you take care of yourself, you have much less to worry about than people who invest in pharma lead you to believe.
Your comment in response to the shared article is deliciously (and disappointingly) ironic. You don't seem to grasp that the only reason fools (including you) have gotten so lucky is because so many others take precautions! You are the problem. Take care!
You might want to consider people working jobs in society--or 2 or even 3 jobs--and ask yourself exactly what they can do to take care of themselves and avoid exposure to disease. I'm going to assume, or hope, you didn't think through what you said there.
you're a data scientist and you think this kind of anecdote is relevant against well over a century of research proving the efficacy and safety of vaccines?
Sir, I’m going to say this as respectfully as possible: Neither you nor any other person on any social media platform with an attitude like yours know anything about data science, and you never will. People who behave this way are incapable of data science. Worry about your own abilities.
Why so selfish? Vaccines are not just for you, but for the whole of society. If you walk through a pathway of people punching, and you somehow miss it this time, you'd be crazy to think you are therefore, untouchable, and can walk into any punch. Grow a better brain.
Humans are creative. Privilege provides the fertile grounds for creativity. But creativity can be dark at times. A village under a volcano walk in sunshine but their dreams are dark. The Americans dreamed they were invincible. This is another kind of darkness.
Regular jeopardy promotes vigilance. Sure, Richard
Doesn't compensate for Low Tax UK's Public Services being ripped to pieces .. while our State Pension, economic growth, mid-Industrial Revolution productivity, & infrastructure investment stays lowest in the W World 😳
It's far easier to con someone than it is to get them to admit that they've been conned. These folks will twist themselves into pretzels blaming everyone but those who've mislead them. I live in Louisiana which is now anti-vax central and know these types too well. I wouldn't bet on an awakening.
A farmer named Skylar Holden posted about voting for trump and now his farm is in trouble. Another farmer posted this vid in response. In regards to your comment about being conned, I think this is helpful insight:
Thanks, this is beautifully said and I hope folks will listen. I would also add, in addition to right wing media propaganda, they have been working hard to influence public education for decades and it hasn't helped folks develop the critical thinking skills to discern bullshit in the first place.
Sane individuals have to quit saving idiots from themselves. "Sure thing Cletus. That thing about stickin' a UV lamp up your butt for Covid totally works! Give 'er a shove bro!"
Very hard to pay journalists if you give away their work for free. The problem is that too many of us are not prepared to pay for quality information. Although I imagine Branson has enough money that he could at least make his subscriptions cheaper.
Nah, information needs to be freely accessible. It isn't a luxury most people can afford so it should be either subsidized or be publicly funded whole cloth
You could equally say that people expecting journalism/writing for free is the reason that a lot of reputable journalists & writers left the business. Also the reason why the rich were able to scoop up all the media & why they control the information.
Yeah, I could say that if I was mentally challenged. Sadly, I am cursed with a triple digit IQ and know that the excuse of "market forces" is bullshit reasoning. You can publicly find journalism, or make banner ads that don't impede the reader. That's a pathetic excuse as any
Sorry didn't realize I was talking to a high IQ idiot. Hope you work for free since you expect journalists to do so. Until they're publicly funded (I assume you misspelled that & didn't mean find), they need to be paid.
Oh man, here comes big brain boy picking at obvious auto-correction mishaps. That's so cool dude, maybe one day someone will give a fuck about your opinion
Intellectual laziness, delusions, willful ignorance, misinformation (disinformation implies typically unknown knowledge of intent), irrational biases, etcetera, have always been the widespread norm in human nature, not the exception.
Hey idiot elected Dems, have you learned nothing from history? The party that shuts down the gov over the budget LOSES THE MIDTERMS! Work with the Repubs to get whatever you can. Also, flapping your lips gets you nothing, the reason Trump is so popular right now is he is physically doing things.
If you want a just"wonder"conspiracy theory that is being acted out in real time, take a bit of a deep dive into the inter connections of Peter Thiel, Elon Musk,Vance & Curtis Yarvin (RAGE theory)Imagine the gutted agencies run by AI even worse AI paired with the quantum Willow chip.Humans R a threat
This article is very insightful and refreshingly NOT MADE IN THE USA!
The anti-EVERYTHING “WOKE” & SCIENTIFIC idiots might just perish from their cush-living entitlement. OR, maybe nothing pierces their bubble-wrapped life. After all, apparently nothing has…yet.
Awesome line...."The point is almost never appreciated by the fanatics but they owe their health and freedom to the sanity of the society they affect to despise.".
For many (most?) it's a mental illness so they'll just come up with more concocted stories and conspiracies, even as the consequences pile up around them.
The guy is brilliant! If more modern novelists had half his power with words, I'd read more fiction past the previous century. But I'm glad he chose his current medium of expression. Most excellent writing!
“One of the less frequently noticed luxuries of the postwar liberal order was the licence to be a fool.” ive mulled this (and the theme of the essay) for some years now. ☯️
Me either "Antivaxers, cranks and fantasists thrive in safe, stable societies but the days of consequence-free idiocy may be ending" Guessing that people holding fringe ideas are insulated consequences until their theories get applied? For Ex. if society innoculates then the unprotected are safer
People died of Covid19 while denying it was real.
And now, there is are fantasists controlling the USA, and Twitter/X. Reality will have to hit hard to have any effect.
When Elon an the oligarchs take away the social support systems that many of them rely on to survive, I think a lot are going to be too busy trying to stay fed and housed to have time for conspiracies
I often thought that if Covid had been some type of hemorrhagic fever we might not have had such a large part of the population go into idiotic denial.
VERY clever way to verify your identity, Mr. B. And I have just about scratched my own scalp off trying to work out how anyone wouldn't want a known, available and tested defense (aka vaccine) to save your life?? ❓😵💫
Yes, and the sad news is they’re going to clog ERs, sicken healthcare workers and make it difficult responsible people to get treatment. Who’s gonna remind them their belligerent choices have consequences. given they will be the sickest, those of us more responsible will be pushed into the hallway.
I think he’s 100% correct. This is what happens when you take what you have for granted and never had to see how it’s made you’re life better or worse in real time
Could it not be argued that the "dose of reality" is that people are THAT deep under?
How do you know that you haven't been taking whistleblowers for granted and are just trying to avoid how much your own complacency has made the situation worse?
I didn’t vote for a rapist. That’s all that matters at this point. Oh and I’m smarter than 55% of the us population closer to 70% tbh. And I’m old enough to k is the shady shit they have done over the years and what real waste is and I also have very good critical thinking skills.
Conspiracy theories are nothing more than a mix of rumors and lies. This presidency and its attacks on democracy is a reality that we are all living. The effects will be devastating and long lasting if not stopped soon.
That's a problem. You have a theory that involves a conspiracy that almost certainly exists, but someone labels you a conspiracy theorist and you sound all whacko.
Let every one find their own level of health, based on their own decisions. But let me remind you that so many people rebel against the medical system because it is a monopoly and it suppresses alternative health care, which tends to be more preventive.
Too many vulnerable NON deniers are impacted. Getting vaccinated only prevents the worst of a disease - it doesn’t mean you escape unscathed - it’s just “milder: people over 60, for example, or asthmatics, pregnant, obese, cancer … All of us are impacted by the choices of anti-vax zealots.
Truth! Imagine having a real emergency but having to wait over 24 hours on a stretcher in ER because the beds are full of people being treated for flu and Covid. Vaccines would have kept most out of the hospital. Masks largely eliminate contracting respiratory airborne viruses in the first place.
When my kids caught chicken pox at kindy, daughter was very mild, just a few spotty scabs. Son had them all over his body and even his eye lids. Both vaccinated.
At 16, my son contracted SHINGLES. Very unusual in one so young. VERY painful. And for life. Because he caught chicken pox when he was 4.
My youngest aon
Contracted shingles when he was 4 years old. We didn’t remember him having chicken pox. He has an extremely high pain threshold. He is now 39 and has not had a reoccurrence.
I’ve been unlucky enough to have Covid multiple times 4 possibly 5 times. The first wasn’t diagnosed as such because it 2-3 wks pre pandemic deceleration.
It has left me more disabled than I was before. I was vaccinated though. The worst part is the always being out of breath.
A relative of mine, who refused to get a COVID vaccine, has suffered from COVID multiple times now and is dealing with constant symptoms of long-COVID. When she complains about it, I say nothing. Absolutely zero sympathy for this.
I bet she has applied for disability, too. If you are not vaccinated and get disabled by Covid, you shouldn’t get a disability check. You intentionally harmed yourself!
Here’s hoping they don’t succeed in killing social security. If they screw up disability and Medicare I’ll be dead, though I have enough insulin to watch maga assholes find out what they really supported for a month or two.
Steve Bannon has warned the GOP if they cut Medicaid, it will hurt MAGA. MAGA could turn against the GOP. That’s what I am hoping will happen. It’s okay to cut other people to MAGA. But, when they realize their benefits are cut, that’s a different story. They are inherently selfish people.
I have read parts of Project 2025. It doesn’t cut Social Security checks or Medicare. It raises the retirement age. But, I don’t trust Elon. I know this sounds selfish as Hell. If they cut Medicaid first, it doesn’t impact old people. Hopefully, the outcry for cutting Medicaid will be strong.
A member of the church I USED to attend was an antivaxxer. Covid destroyed his organs and he died leaving behind a wife, kids and grandkids. One of his sons got permanent severe lung damage limiting his ability to work and provide for his wife and kids. All avoidable.
And I can't wait they must be awoken from their 10 yr slumber. I'm with Carville on this, maybe Dems should just allow this to happen. This is what happens when you entrust your govt to scan artists.
One of the best, succinct reads that nails several vital points.
*I also feel this sentence applies liberally to many topics and issues in the US & UK especially: “One of the less frequently noticed luxuries of the postwar liberal order was the licence to be a fool.”
That's not how conspiracy works. Everything is proof that they are right. If people get sick, they will belive the government is making people sick to force vaccines on them.
So true! I don’t think the author implied they will wake up though, at the end he says he doesn’t expect an apology from those in the find out stage, simply that they’re an outcome of a healthy society insulated from the horrors of disease. Covid proved they will die clinging to their conspiracies.
I'm not sure the majority of the Magas will understand just a bit. I remember when covid hit in and people in hospitals literally denied with their last breath that it was Covid. They will blame others. Too early for them, even if feels already to late for us.
God willing Sir Richard. But I was kind of hoping that during the impending pandemic their refusal to mask, social distance and vaccinate would result in a significant reduction of conspiracists.
I don’t get the now I am a billionaire, let me crush everyone. I’d be like, kids paying for lunch, not on my watch. Senior homelessness up, no way. High maternal mortality, I don’t think so
I stopped caring about these people and hope they get what they asked for. Our hospitals were full of these assholes during Covid. I think they should have been thrown out in the street. A prosecutor in Canada is asking for a 10 year term for a "Freedom Convoy" leader. I hope his ass rots in jail.
He should go to jail. How dare they try to start an uprising in Ottawa. I hope Pat King never recovers from this. He can keep his big mouth shut. And that other woman, her too. Fuck em.
I honestly felt the same way. They ran around maskless. They refused to follow Dr. Fauci’s sound medical advice. Then, when they got sick, they overwhelmed the hospitals. People having heart attacks couldn’t even get a hospital bed because hospitals were full of MAGA idiots! MAGA deserved to die!
I feel like that too. They abused and harassed all the healthcare workers. The problem is, even though we are vaccinated, we could still catch a contagious illness because of these dummies.
They were threatening to blow up a hospital in Georgia because the doctors wouldn’t agree to give the patient Ivermectin. If they want to treat themselves with horse dewormer, they can do it at home. They don’t need doctors.
There seems to be a crazy rightwing movement everywhere. But, nothing compares to the MAGA movement here. MAGA is brainwashed beyond belief. I truly believe only pain and suffering can snap them out of it. Cutting off their Medicaid and food stamps will hurt. Red states are dependent on welfare.
We need to stop coddling these people and humoring their ignorance and hate. We've become too tolerant of intolerance. We have to fight back with decency at the front of our minds and hearts, but we do have to FIGHT BACK.
They may not work for you, but a surprising number of Americans seem surprisingly happy with stupidity, hatred, and evil.
[I imagine few of them are cat lovers.]
Nah they died with bitterness hatred, and envy. You see the bitter disgusted look on people 's face when people wear masks. Instead of just minding their business 😆
Yea, this last sentence, "I just hope they do not take the rest of us down with them." That's just it. These idiotic anti-vaxxers WILL take many of us down with them. THAT is the infuriating part. PPl w/ ZERO critical thinking skills refuse to listen to experts. It remains a huge problem in the US.
And in parts of the population of Australia. Lots of angry people that do not understand why they are the way they are and so they’re dazzled by loud mouth charismatic individuals who promise them everything.
I respectfully disagree - all of the conspiracies they created are actually being brought to life now. They’ll just never equate it with yam tits - it will be confirmation of belief.
How many lives will be lost? In the US during COVID it is estimated that 2-300,000 lives were lost that could have been saved had Trump and his minions better embraced vaccines. Yet he was re-elected. The denial runs deep
Yeah pretty much. It's like some logical part of their brain realizes what's going on, but that's completely overpowered by something much deeper in their brain and not even they can explain it.
I have always had a huge, huge problem with the numbers. It’s over 7M worldwide now. I just found a source saying 1.2M Americans. Covid, especially in beginning, was treated with some shame. Families didn’t want it on death certificates. No federal standards for coroners and pressure from above too.
More Bullshit. YOU appear to be leading a sad life. Why don't you stop worrying about what people are claiming and start proving what's true or not. Otherwise you are no different than them. and I'm not talking about Snopes.
The Times writing about "consequence-free idiocy"? The same times that reckoned communism was taking over the UK's Universities? The same Times that foisted Boris Johnson on us all and supports the fkng Tories? 🤡🤡
TBF they weren't very supportive of boris (or brexit) and their readers generally hated him. However they've got a lot worse in the last few years since they changed editor
Lets not re-write history. They certainly were supportive of Johnson - showing pictures of him at School on the front page (Oh isnt he such fun! In his rugger shirt! What a rascal!) and inside to introduce people to the twat, before he made his traitorous run for PM and made Brexshit even worse.
Make them sign a form that states;
"I consent to my child getting Measles including fever, cough, pain and itchy full body rash. I consent to the 1 in 3 chance that my child will experience serious complications including pneumonia and acute encephalitis. My child may become disabled or die..." 1/3
Once herd immunity goes, this isn't just a theoretical disease anymore. It's a choice between a needle and a tiny risk and the certainty of a painful disease with real consequences and shitty odds.
I certainly couldn't look my kids in the eye and tell them that I'd made them suffer unnecessarily.
We should also make them talk to an emergency room Dr who has treated kids with measles, 20% of whom will enter the ER "limp, unable to even lift their heads, tongues so swollen they won't even take a popsicle" and watch as other parents hold their kids down as the IV goes in.
"I consent to them infecting my friends and neighbours, possibly killing them. I consent to the 1 in 600 change they'll develop SSPE years later and die horribly. I consent to taking time off work to care for them and to paying for all their expenses out of pocket because this was preventable" 3/3
"My child may become blind, deaf or intellectually disabled & may experience long term respiratory damage, impacting their quality of life & long term choices. I consent to them experiencing significant reductions in humoral immune memory and becoming more vulnerable to infectious disease..." 2/3
The problem is they don't really care about their children and treat them as part of their inventory, so you need to add a line about being obligated to cover the costs of treatment which can get up to several millions. Poor kiddos.
I believe you are correct, we need to be sensible. But I also believe people do not trust. Why is that? Because they have been lied to so many times. The covid vaxx is safe yet it has caused a lot of myocarditis. You care about kids so that is something to think about to.
My cynicism is valid. If you are inclined watch this. You can fwd to 18min mark, and Dr Deborah Birx who was a covid response coordinator in 2020 has a different opinion than you on the vaxx https://youtu.be/pde8y39pFBA?si=fIsCUczmthycJ3cV I hope there is a reckoning for Fauci et al
I had the measles in 73. If you bubble wrap your kids they will not become resilient. The opposite will happen. Your kids will have anxiety & live at home until their 30s. Helicopter parent are like you. It could be a neurosis and paranoia. Yet you are highly conscientious & have buckets of empathy.
Preventing preventable disabilities or death by vaccination is not wrapping your child in bubble wrap or helicopter parenting. Ensuring your child has a safe, healthy environment to live in is not either. You need to learn what words actually mean.
I respect your right to express yourself & I respect every parents right to choose what is best for their children. They have done their research believe me. Understand why not all people feel the same as you. It is like adding hot sauce when others dont like spicy food.
It's like selfishly and ignorantly signing your kids up for a painful disease with a 1 in 5 chance of hospitalisation, needlessly, because you don't know the difference between watching a Youtube video and becoming an immunologist.
If you're cool with the risks, you have the right to take them on your kids behalf, but please sign on the dotted line. I've got no issues signing up for the minuscule risk of vaccine injury when compared to the risk posed by the disease itself. Give me the form. I'll sign away. I'm in no denial.
Science is real. It really works. Getting the measles vaccination does not mean your kids will have emotional problems. If your kid gets an avoidable disease because you think toughing it out builds character? Child abuse. You end up a case on Law & Order - maybe patricide.
Yes I was abused & neglected as a kid; under that smile was sadness. I agree. I neve did to my kids what was done to me. I believe in vaxx but I am firm on informed consent. Covid vaxx traumatized me. I didn't trust it, and was shamed into getting it. Unacceptable. Pls understand.
Here is the thing though. I am also firm on informed consent. I suspect that you're conflating a few issues.
1. The distress of being forced into doing something to your body against your will.
2. The effectiveness of vaccines
3. The fact that viruses differ in nature & Covid mutates quickly
1/2
But that doesn't mean that there was necessarily a conspiracy. Or that all vaccines are a conspiracy. Or that Fauci wasn't doing his absolute best in really complex circumstances.
So anyway, thanks for the apology. However I stand by my post. Informed consent means facing the realities of disease.
So you speak some truths. The Covid vaccine is not as effective as some other vaccines (especially as the virus mutated faster than we could test & distribute the vaccine). It was pushed through on a faster schedule than other vaccines (because people were dying in their millions from Covid)
(Cont.)
The purpose of all organisms is to replicate. Measles is a fairly static virus because it's so transmittable so it spreads just fine without mutating. The flu and covid aren't so they have to be clever.
(cont.)
I'm so sorry for what you had to go through. I had childhood friends that had some messed up home lives. Some struggled, but some had an extra layer of resilience from having to do for self. I proud of you for doing better for your kids than what was done to you.
Thanks for your kind words. I have also had amazing miracles in my life. Would you believe I found my birth mom by weirdly putting up a few signs in Penticton BC!? In 2003. I had her for 20 yrs before she passed. I still cant believe that I found her. RIP Sheila
I had the measles in 58. I was bedridden for over 3 weeks. Weak as a newborn kitten and coughing for about another 2. My kid was vaccinated so she wouldn’t have to go thru that. She moved out at 23, and has no anxiety issues. 🙄
I cannot believe that I just got accused of being a helicopter parent because I choose to protect my kids from unnecessary disease. Every day is upside down day in MAGA land.
Informed consent is vital; not selfish. If people were not so judgemental and harsh, and were more understanding of people's concerns and perspectives, people would be less resistant. Patience and kindness wins.
I am sorry to hear that. I am not against vaccines I am against people being forced, like the covid vaxx was forced. Then learning about Fauci's involvement in shenanigans and affects ppl have experienced, is unfortunate.
I wish, however we just had a pandemic that killed millions and the antivaxxers still managed to successfully villify doctors, scientists and people trying to help people through it. Don't think anything gets through
The winner is. The FBI is replacing birds with drones looking like the birds to spy on republicans that can recharge themselves when they are on power lines and they drop their poop on your republican car that is really tracking devices so the FBI knows where all republicans are all the time!
We can only hope natural selection will step up the process. They'll be gone and probably a lot of our oligarchs especially the one who's claiming he's "autistic" with his lazy eye that shoots off to the right.
I don’t know what kind of phone and OS you use, but when there’s a problem with the regular browsing, you can always use private. That gets around a lot.
Yeah, not sure why some are having trouble with it. I just clicked on the link and the article opened up, I don’t have a subscription. Hope you get a chance to read it, very good article.

Every MAGA/Q conspiracy theory is an episode of the X-Files.
The X-Files made up the "deep state" and MAGA thinks it's real. TV isn't real.
MAGA has ruined the show for me. Guys, it's not real.

Never again!
Greed mongers, unleashed by their master criminal guru of filth, join into the grifting
Use your riches to stop the putrid smell of greed
People should be embarrassed by hoarding wealth 💰

2. They have to realize their guy is the cause
The sooner those 2 things happen, the more likely we avoid violence. At some point, violence becomes inevitable.
But far from most of the cause.
Intellectual laziness, delusions, willful ignorance, misinformation (disinformation implies typically unknown knowledge of intent), irrational biases, etcetera, have always been the widespread norm in human nature, not the exception.
And now I can’t stop seeing it.
The anti-EVERYTHING “WOKE” & SCIENTIFIC idiots might just perish from their cush-living entitlement. OR, maybe nothing pierces their bubble-wrapped life. After all, apparently nothing has…yet.
Polio might do it. GB perfect life.
TRUMP ET AL ARE ALL PUTIN PUPPETS! I don’t get why. Obviously Trump is a total idiot. Of all people on the planet, this guy? And, AGAIN?!
The Biden years should have reset our political sanity. Nope.
It is SUPER CREEPY, and sometimes even dangerous! Shame.
We need de-programming centers, not minority concentration camps!

And now, there is are fantasists controlling the USA, and Twitter/X. Reality will have to hit hard to have any effect.
It’s not an ideal solution by any means but it is what it is I guess. Hope y’all fare better or something.
and the Walk-in Clinic has been shuttered for months
because of Eio's slash and burn
How do you know that you haven't been taking whistleblowers for granted and are just trying to avoid how much your own complacency has made the situation worse?
do you think that conspiracy means false theory?
everything ppl say about musk and Trump plotting to destroy democracy is a conspiracy lmao
prolly true
still a conspiracy
see how it works? not a bad word lol
you think musk and Trump aren't actually helping the American people? that's a conspiracy
you are all now conspiracy theorists to the state lmao
and the more you act like being one warrants dismissal, the more likely they'll do it to you
there's nothing less "critical thinker" than believing official narratives only lmao
At 16, my son contracted SHINGLES. Very unusual in one so young. VERY painful. And for life. Because he caught chicken pox when he was 4.
contracted shingles.
Is he perhaps able to access the vaccination against shingles?
He got permission from Drs to take an adult medication to treat them.
Contracted shingles when he was 4 years old. We didn’t remember him having chicken pox. He has an extremely high pain threshold. He is now 39 and has not had a reoccurrence.
It has left me more disabled than I was before. I was vaccinated though. The worst part is the always being out of breath.
*I also feel this sentence applies liberally to many topics and issues in the US & UK especially: “One of the less frequently noticed luxuries of the postwar liberal order was the licence to be a fool.”

We are the victims or our own success. It is sad to admit that we are no longer in an age of reason.
Everything Trump touches dies. Including this dude's freedom.
Nature's own way of weeding out the stupid.

Come on
From the info available I think the argument is that when their worlds turn to shit they’ll realise they were wrong, which is naive.
If people would reliably link actions and outcomes, we’d not have stupid votes by the billions.

Mr Branson. I'll send you a dose of Cape Town sunshine in return :)
"I consent to my child getting Measles including fever, cough, pain and itchy full body rash. I consent to the 1 in 3 chance that my child will experience serious complications including pneumonia and acute encephalitis. My child may become disabled or die..." 1/3
I certainly couldn't look my kids in the eye and tell them that I'd made them suffer unnecessarily.
It's like selfishly and ignorantly signing your kids up for a painful disease with a 1 in 5 chance of hospitalisation, needlessly, because you don't know the difference between watching a Youtube video and becoming an immunologist.
1. The distress of being forced into doing something to your body against your will.
2. The effectiveness of vaccines
3. The fact that viruses differ in nature & Covid mutates quickly
1/2
So anyway, thanks for the apology. However I stand by my post. Informed consent means facing the realities of disease.

I cannot believe that I just got accused of being a helicopter parent because I choose to protect my kids from unnecessary disease. Every day is upside down day in MAGA land.
