I DIDN'T KNOW THERE WAS AN ACT 3

DKoS will never have his YJH back.
SP will never have KDJ, at all.
Maybe they're confusing loneliness for love. Maybe they're just using each other to fill in the gaps. But they fall into their arrangement quite nicely, and ease the heartaches into old, pleasant memories.

though he turns a little rueful when he talks about how lonely and quiet his N'gai became.
They both notice the differences and similarities within the other, between YJH and SP, and DKoS and KDJ -- as well as the "affection" they both consider an open secret.

N'gai becomes a little livelier with its +1.
There's some secrets of his own domain that SP learns from DKoS and vice versa; there are as many things that are the same as there are different.
DKoS isn't surprised by the kkomas at all,

It's a fact.
The KDJ that SP's been watching, sponsoring, wanting to have as his own -- he belongs to the 3rd regression. And the YJH who DKoS suffered an eternity for has already moved on from a fulfilling mortal life eons ago.
It's not a bad deal between two lonely souls.

Long story short, KDJ got curious enough and found some loopholes to go dimension spelunking, and found SP's worldline.
"I lost my companion a long time ago," DKoS says, extending a hand. There's something wistful in his small smile. "And the one you want, is already another's."

Turns out this is a KDJ from a waaaay distant timeline/AU where, somehow, instead of YJH becoming an outer god, it was KDJ who did to ensure a "happy ending" for everyone. Instead of being trapped as the Oldest Dream in a subway train, he ended up trapped in N'gai as DKoS.

“And I love you,” YJH says in turn, his voice touched with a tremble.
Perhaps, then, those three words mean all the more, when spoken so rarely.
But KDJ feels it, as he would see words on a page, in the hands that hold him and regard him as a treasure.

YJH's hips falter, a brief spell of wonder passing over his expression.
Their love language, as they have learned, seems to rely on anything but actual spoken language; but they can see it in their eyes and vulnerable gazes, feel it in a soft touch shared in a private moment.

So, he says — “Yoo Joonghyuk.”
“Kim Dokja,” comes the immediate, slightly breathy reply.
Here, KDJ grins, reaching his arms up and wrapping them around YJH's neck, pulling him down closer.
“I love you, you bastard.”

KDJ doesn't cry or wail, but his breath comes heavy as the pleasure builds at a steady pace. Without his throat worn raw, he could comfort YJH, murmur in between his staggered breaths, saying he's here — they're both here.
Safe, sound, with nothing to tear them apart.

He feels a certain fondness as YJH's chest and arm muscles flex and tighten, that YJH chose tonight as something sentimental and tender rather than one of carnal desires.
Here, he can see where time has worn at his sharp edges that are still no less strong.

Without tears blurring his vision, KDJ can watch the way YJH's eyes crease, when his own pleasure crests and pulls at him.
He tracks a bead of sweat rolling down his temple and down his diamond-cut jaw, where it catches at the hollow of his collarbone.

Like this, in their comfortable pace, KDJ can enjoy the sensations without being overwhelmed.
He can focus on the firm but gentle hands at his waist, feel and pinpoint where exactly they wander — over his ribs, up his sides, where YJH's fingers spread wide or press in.

KDJ only smiles and welcomes him back with a small kiss. They've both softened a bit, cooled down from the brief intermission, but a sleepless night full of passion wasn't the plan anyway.
Still, when YJH stirs into a slow rhythm, warming their skin again, KDJ turns into a dream come alive.

Memories can be terrible things, though.
So KDJ waits until YJH finds the answers scattered across KDJ's skin and within his pulsepoints, for his protagonist always comes back to him. When YJH lifts his eyes, clear and bright and full with KDJ's reflection still,

With light scratches, he plays with the soft hairs there, his fingertips pressing soft circles around the spine.
KDJ doesn't say anything. He knows exactly what YJH is thinking of — remembering about. But this is no longer a battlefield, with no demon king to slay.
YJH knows this too.

But when YJH pauses and lays his forehead on KDJ's sternum, his hand just beside where a certain scar should be, KDJ takes the initiative and wordlessly slides his own hand to the back of YJH's neck.

So he atones by letting YJH do as he pleases, to verify for himself that KDJ truly is here and now. However he needs it.
He doesn't dare shy away when YJH lowers and presses his lips across sensitive skin; wherever YJH needs to go, whatever pulse or warmth he needs to feel, KDJ opens up for him.

Now, KDJ knows better than that. They both know better than that.
Where YJH gently holds the flat of his palm, he finds his mark. The strong thump-thump-thump of KDJ's pulse. Sometimes, KDJ feels a little guilty, whenever YJH seeks out that proof of life.
