what you're doing in this thread, with this sort of derail into did-you-vote-for-harris and they-can-do-nothing-right-now it's-your-fault, is only helping the trump regime. it does nothing to improve the situation. maybe it feels righteous! but it's passive aggressive small child tantrum behavior

Tech optimists think that technology will make factory jobs easier and better for workers. I'm less sanguine. I think some tech improves productivity and wages; other types of tech deskills and eliminates jobs (look at AI with illustration art).

feels like certain ppl won't give it up until Trump disappears them personally. some of that lot'll prolly find a way to blame it on someone else provoking him even then

huh. maybe we should adjust our editorial policies to explicitly denounce and confront the regime. nahhhhhh

natalism is an authoritarian ideology, it's also creepy as hell, you might not be saints as The Atlantic’s editors but platforming this stuff can easily become propagandizing for the far right if you take you eyes off it for one minute and it doesn't seem like you’re paying any attention at all!

there is a massive potential for abuse & gaming the system to get profitable drugs to market here if the people leading this are not scrupulously ethical. nobody appointed by this regime is likely to be that David Sacks is the crypto and "AI" czar! RFK Jr is the HHS secretary! they certainly are not

there are ethical people in the industry who'd use quantitative systems pharmacology to suss out novel biological or pharma hypotheses that could then be tested in clinical trials. the people in charge of the FDA under this regime are not that from their roadmap, www.fda.gov/media/186092... :

a huge problem is that "AI" has become a practically magical term in this hype cycle, that's mainly associated with generative models outside of the industry, so calling them "AI based computational models" means totally different things to different people the people running things now are grifters

man if you waste all your energy screaming at your potential allies b/c of bull paddies you made up in your mind palace, you're not gonna be able to do anything about the repressive dictatorship in the US. you might do a good job at working yourself into a frothing wreck, though

People who don't pay attention to New York state politics may think that the corruption is like, a meme. No. New York state government is utterly corrupt root and branch and is entirely run by machine politics. And for like - a few k in an envelope. This isn't fucking sophisticated scams.
