useful info from labor movements: "Working to rule means carrying out your contractual obligations to the letter...Most importantly, it means not working any longer than you are legally required to – which means 35 hours per week for most full-time people." unitethefca.org/working-to-r...

This week's Philosophy Questions: 1. Can societies filled with individualists ever work? 2. Is the herd mentality a natural phenomenon that holds our societies together? 3. Are groups merely placid & mediocre, or also highly dangerous? 4. Can we ever grow as a group, or only as an individual?

"References (attached) say I’m a 'Renaissance Man,' an unsurpassed polymath, the most curious man who ever lived. But the title I covet most is customer service associate."

Evelyn Fox Keller has died. It is a great loss. “To know the history of science is to recognize the mortality of any claim to universal truth.” https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-023-03819-4 #Histsci #philsci #complexity #hpbio 🧪 #femsky

Last year I bit the bullet & invested in a Steelcase Leap V2 for my home office. Spending that much money on a single chair seemed a little obscene but I can now report that it is worth every penny! I can work at my desk for hours without back or shoulder pain. Is this what getting old is like?

“I am not saying that women will do a different kind of science,” Evelyn Fox Keller told The Boston Globe in 1986. “I am saying when there are more women in science, everybody will be free to do a different kind of science.” 🧪
