another metroidvania (what a shock)
I love the painterly style, the mechanics are really good, exploring is fun and rewarding. not much else to say, it's been one of my most anticipated games for a while

cleaning games like power wash simulator, or goblin cleanup (those are the only two I've played, but I had fun) but yeah, right up my alley, wishlisted, getting it day 1
the only knock against it I'd say is that the wiping action feels a bit sluggish, and I'd want it to be a bit more snappy

a toothbrush, which is great for crevices, but only cleans a small area at a time, and a cloth, which is for cleaning glass.
also judging by the screenshots on the steam page, there will be more tools
this game will definitely appeal to anyone who's a fan of other cleaning games

honestly not too sure what to say about this, the concept is really simple, but also pretty well done. you get a thing, get a little bit of backstory about it, then you start cleaning it. the demo only has 3 tools, a scrubber, which is great for getting wide areas, but bad at crevices,

unfortunately, I probably won't be playing the game on release, since I have a mild phobia of dinosaurs, but if it weren't for that, I would be IN it from day one.
let me be a funky little caveman just trying to keep his family safe, fight dinosaurs, and maybe explore ruins left by space aliens

I do wonder about if it's possible to soft lock yourself by not having a spear or being able to craft one (because you have to collect the materials by traveling around the map, and crafting can only be done at a campfire) but I haven't had an issue so long as I was careful about retrieving them

the main gameplay is exploratory (as with most metroidvanias) I would prefer maybe a minimap, but I understand why it wouldn't be included.
but anyway
the main method of progression is "how do I transport fire over to this brush that's blocking my way?" and it's really satisfying to solve

the upgrade system is simple enough, you get a skill point, you can buy an upgrade at a campfire, like more health, faster move speed, more inventory space, a double jump. it's all very simple and clean.

it's kind of exactly what it says on the tin, you play as a caveman, you fight dinosaurs. it's well executed, you can make spears, throw spears, use the spears as platforms, light the spears on fire to light brush on fire so you can get to a new place, it's great

holy shit a caveman metroidvania where you fight dinosaurs.
if you're not already in, I'm sorry

I also really think that player made maps would go crazy in this game, especially if you could add some verticality and flying through the air and stuff. but also remember that it's an indie dev and that stuff sounds like a lot of work that may or may not be possible to put into the game.

once you've beaten the gold ghost, you can try to beat your personal best lap, and there's also a leaderboard. laps are also like a couple minutes max, so you can just grind and grind if you want.
I'm curious about how this game will develop, if there'll be a multiplayer or if it'll stay time trial

the mechanics are really good, it feels amazing to drive (disclaimer: I don't play a lot of driving games) and the time trials are fun. it starts you out with a ghost so you can learn the track right off by following it if you want, and you can try to beat the bronze, silver, and gold ghosts

grapple car
store.steampowered.com/app/3579900/...
it's a fun racing game built around a single mechanic. your car can grapple to the left and right, and that makes it turn faster and give you a speed boost.

overall, I really liked it, but it wasn't for me.
if possible, I would maybe like an easy mode in the full release that gave you a bit more time, or that widens some of the tighter gaps, or just gives you a hit point so you can take a single hit from a spike and keep going.

you either die and reset, or connect to another ceiling or conveniently located bar.
pressing left and right makes you flap, which gives you momentum up and to the side. it feels really floaty, which I think is a positive in this case, because you're flying around

the art style reminds me of classic castlevania, like castlevania 1. it's fun and playful and retro.
now the mechanics, on the other hand...are hard.
you play as a bat that has to fly around and collect garlic to save your vampire friend. but also you have maybe 10 seconds of stamina before

this game is so cute, I love the premise, I love the art style, I love that the vampire hunters look like simon and richter belmont...I am not good at it.

tools to make playing easier. although I might also like just a bunch of rando dungeons I can use to just populate a hex map. like a random lost tomb, or a shrine to a saint or something

and none of the jokes actually die. instead of beating a dead horse, there's just a bunch of zombie horses wandering around waiting to bite someone
