#KidLitTip #1. Everyone says middle grade novels aren't selling these days, but who cares? Editors are still buying them, + tons are working. Think about the great mid grade writers--Horvath, O'Connor, Medina, Yee, Applegate. In 2 years Mid grade will be hot again. It's cyclical. Just keep writing.

This applies to acquiring editors too. When I say a submission (agented or unagented) isn’t right for my list…I truly mean it. I have my own tastes, but I also carefully curate what I acquire and know what my publisher can best sell. So the rejection isn’t a dig on the author’s writing or story.
