What a nice day this was. Thanks, Vermont!

Yay it's #alayma, the American Library Association's Oscars Emmys Grammys Golden Globes CMAs all at once. ALA Youth Media Awards search.app/TxZvnpjGwuUc...

The first home computer my family had was a Tandy, but not one of these fancy-schmancy models. It had basic text (print on daisy-wheel paper), a basic paint program, a basic MIDI thing that played your janky compositions, and everything was available from a tab-through home screen menu.

Wiping out education, health, science, safe havens, justice -- abdicating good governance ends in all of us becoming ungovernable. Provided we manage that before we are too oppressed.

I'm still reconstituting my Twitter here, and I am wary of deleting my account(s)/making the username available. If you're trying to disengage, I rec blocking all ads you can+any trolls, bots, bad actors while you work (more than 250ish blocks in a couple of min=get locked out for a while; AMA).

Today I ate bread and dried blueberries I made myself, helped with the pickling, patted the cat that does in fact have a home down the street but keeps trying to move in here, planned summer garden, and stayed off screens to work on eye healing. And forgot to drink coffee from my White House mug.

When was the last notable social media implosion? I've lost at least three communities now, plus other platforms. (I don't even TT!) I suppose we forgot to warn: your platform won't love you back, and the following you build on any is not guaranteed due to technoligarchy and capitalism! 🙃

I have read multiple "scientists or historians travel to the medieval period" books this year. Each has one aspect of a story I vaguely remember reading as a kid; none is the book I'm looking for. I may have made a mental stew of them all.

So...do snitches get stitches or not, given our new paradigm?

Simplified menu for this year (I know, don't laugh).

I love the Chicago Manual of Style, but I wish other cities would put their own together in a sort of endless fashion competition. Seattle manual: sprinkle in apostrophes like rain. Los Angeles: a whole section about freeway number styles. Denver: some pages can be smoked. Etc.

Watching: Arcane season 2. Rewatching S1 and realizing I missed a lot of subtle connections between the storylines. I'm interested in most of them, which is a lift with such a big cast; however, all are connected to Vi, Jinx, or Caitlyn; a set of concentric triangles!
