It’s way too hard & expensive — & takes way too long — to build the things California needs to succeed, such as housing, transit, clean energy, child care centers, food banks, health clinics, new businesses. Today, a key Senate committee passed 2 major bills I’m authoring to help turn this around:

A reminder that if senate Republicans wanted to end the tariff issue they could do so whenever they choose.

Dems picking someone even older than Connolly would be incredible. A steadfast commitment to never learning a lesson usually reserved for characters in fables.

this was one of my biggest takeaways. there are many people who seems to think that if something is terrible, harmful, "unacceptable," etc it cannot also be the best actual option that's actually available sometimes extremely bad things are true

a Democrat making a positive case for accepting refugees in 2025 lisan al-gaib he is the one

holy fuck. glad i got my summer ordering out of the way. gonna be second hand stuff for winter shopping i guess.

Blue Idaho 2026.

It is kinda funny how Pritzker comes across as an unstoppable ubermensch simply by not apologizing for his existence as a lib in this day and age.

For the 8 millionth father-fucking time... Pandering to the right on immigration does not win over anti-immigration voters. It simply makes the electorate more Hitlerite on immigration; encouraging them to vote for the right. Any marginal gain is more than canceled out by this and base depression.

This sort of unambiguous, unapologetic pro-immigration message is so much more effective than unconvincing hemming and hawing about how actually Democrats would do a better and more effective job of being anti-immigration.

It's really not a coincidence that Atheists vote ~90% Democratic every single cycle. I really think we get waaaaaayyyyyyyy more shit online than we deserve.

I have in general become way less tolerant of ‘crunchy’ bullshit since ascension of people like RFK jr. to actual power. Sorry but the obnoxious Reddit science and logic guys were right, you should be scorned for believing objectively wrong things about consequential issues.

This has been true for a long time, the Iraq War for all the theories about oil and Haliburton really was about a bunch of people having a really bad idea and strongly believing in it.

This guy, Dom Lucre, shared child sexual abuse material on Twitter, got banned for it, and then Musk reinstated him. Absolutely wild to see him being treated like a real journalist.

recall that the Washington Post gave her a thumbs up for AG, saying she was qualified and that lawyers who worked with her report that she is serious

This view is absolutely pervasive in the liberal/Dem nonprofit world too. All of these people are afraid of their own shadow, more afraid of what Republicans will say or do in response than fascism itself. It’s the most pathetic, feckless, and self-defeating shit I’ve ever experienced.

This is the most bitchmade way to view politics I can imagine

I mean honest to God this is where the Democratic base is at right now and everybody in Washington is trying their absolute damnedest to ignore it

Everyone is so stupid and shortsighted that they don't realize that unless they actually FREAK OUT about the tariffs they're going to happen and they'll destroy not just the US economy but also the global monetary and financial system. Their bet is that if they get a tax cut then 1929 is worth it

Yeah I know, it's The Bulwark. But if this is true, yeah, it's already beyond my final straw.

2026 is gonna be an absolute bloodbath for older Democratic reps

Genuinely cannot even comprehend what Gretchen Whitmer thinks she’s doing. This man’s supporters wanted to murder you. And does she think just because he won Michigan last year that he’s super popular or something? Has she seen a single fucking poll? What a colossally disappointing person.

This was all avoidable.

yeah i am pretty much on the side of primary everyone

Stephen Lynch is quite literally the worst possible choice for the top Dem on Oversight unless you start pulling guys who aren't even *on* Oversight, and Lynch has Gerry Connolly's support lmao

[2800 AD] CYBORG: yeah it's called 'borat' or something. apparently it was a film they used to quote a lot before the Time of the Great Burning. they had a copy on the datacore but an infophage ate it. it's unrecoverable GENESPLICE: who told you about this? CYBORG: [totally normal voice] my wife

A 25% overperformance is the best we've seen so far? When the Tariffs truly hit in 2-3 weeks, we're going to start seeing some ridiculous swings in special elections.

Only 14 Democrats voted against confirming Trump's ambassador to Italy. The vast majority of Democratic electeds talk like things aren't normal and then act like they are.

Thing is - Trump is "disrupting." I promise you that Matt here is not going to like the results of the disruption in about... 3 weeks?

SASC and SFRC Dems need to be booted the fuck out of the party, absolute clown shit on continuous display for months now

If it wasn't clear before how pointless this whole thing was, and how it's really meant to shut down pro-Palestinian voices, it should be now

It would be cool if the Star Wars prequels were a tenth as fun to watch as they were to talk about.

Not going to make any grand proclamations until something actually happens. But obviously, a War between India and Pakistan would be nearly worst case scenario for the world.

I could see prudentially (not morally) one Dem playing the long odds that Trump will not be despised at the end of the term and cornering the moderates. But like three of them are doing this already.

The American people long to see a whiny brat radicalized into fascism chopped into pieces with a laser sword and left to burn alive in a pit of lava.

Dear god let this man cook.

We condemn this repugnant, mob-like behavior. Those of us who speak out against antisemitism have a responsibility to speak out against all forms of hatred, just like this.

This, from a woman in Oklahoma talking to her local news station, is better than the vast majority of political speeches you'll hear today.

Feels like we’re in a surreal political moment where our elites desperately want to capitulate to a despot but the aspiring dictator is so dumb and bad at things that we’re still kinda free despite the best efforts of all involved.
