not even what i meant by this but we’ve heard pretty verified rumors that ICE is going to start parking agents in our courthouse to pick up anyone they think is undocumented. our legal system was not built to manage this sort of external restrictions on a person’s due process rights.

i get weird looks from other attorneys in my office for setting for trial every criminal case involving a client at risk of immigration consequences but like, look around you. i have an ethical, moral obligation to not plea these guys out into Hell.
