When I complain about overdevelopment in games its almost always due to stuff like this
Adding complexity and cruft to mitigate "feel bad" moments that themselves are just dogmatically accepted as "must avoid"
Most of the best, most enduring games have "feel bad" moments

It's absolutely horrific and I feel for the local store owners most of whom have other jobs to support running a small business. Now they have to spend extra money to re-coup losses, repair their stores and add extra security. 9 different stores in the past 2 weeks!
