"but why should medicaid pay?"
not only is trans care not an elite luxury, trans people are often broke. if you're on medicaid, you ain't rich! trans unemployment rates are near great depression level; the trans pay gap is huge. unemployment and pay gap for trans people of color is even worse.🧵

the trouble with "trusting that people have their shit figured out" is that it turns out it's really fuckin' hard to figure your shit out when the very existence of trans people as a real possibility had been withheld from you for your entire life.
It assumes a freedom of ideas that doesn't exist.

What if we had pirated, stolen, reproduced that knowledge already? What if they didn't control the libraries to burn them? What if their funding wasn't necessary for cancer to get treated and HRT prescribed? They had a gun to society's head, but they've pulled the trigger and we're still here

Holy shit. Read the footnotes. This one, from Jackson, is jaw-dropping.
The Dual State was published in 1941. Fraenkel was writing about Nazi Germany.

I mean, I do not even have comedy sarcastic remarks to make about this. It’s just grinding home day after day that the whole thing has been a towering daily Fuck You to the public for decades.

In her furious dissent, Jackson writes of the Supreme Court's decision: "The project of stymying one of the country’s great civil rights laws continues." She likens today's ruling to notorious decisions after the Civil War cutting back civil rights statutes. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

I’ll answer! It means the business of politics for at least a decade has been small groups of political insiders cooking up sales pitches of mostly drivel, aimed at maybe four or five newspaper editors and 200 journalists, then joining to shitefest that project past the public by any means necessary

It could not be more clear that not many people like or want Sir Keir, Reeves and McSweeney *even within the PLP*, never mind the public. What should we conclude if they were flying high while there was wall-to-wall all-channels rah-rah for them, and then they exploded on first contact with reality?
