Read an AP article about ten years ago written about a university computer games teacher who made his students play Ultima IV and didn't help them figure it out. Not a single student could even figure out what you were supposed to do in the game. Was very sad.

he's seen em. 😘 I made all these about ten years ago and posted them on Twitter. I'm just gradually reposting them here after deactivating Twitter. They were a fun way to self-teach myself Photoshop.

Ha! Was just listening to the soundtrack for Space Quest III. Was done by the drummer for Supertramp, iirc. Ah, long live retrogaming.

reminds me of the first time I used Windows 95. I was tasked with turning the computer off. Took me at least five minutes to figure out that you do it by going to the START menu...

The night is the most important, too. For me, anyway. I can weather the heat better when I'm not trying to sleep.

This version of the towne doesn't exist in the game. I used the ruins to figure out how Magincia might have looked before its destruction.

Weird, I've never had a problem with the casing on my 7300/200. I wish its mouse still worked worth a damn tho.

Also I do use a Windows 11 emulator on the Mac sometimes to play a few ancient games that aren't on Mac. Like Ultima V. Hehe.

Yes, Apple's OS only runs on Apple computers and those are expensive, tho they seem to last a lot longer than the hardware you get in Windows machines. And there's rarely a system update. The MacOS just gets the hell outta the way like an OS should.
I did buy a PS5 to make up for the game loss.

They were pushing OneDrive on me at the time I left Windows. My hate for Microsoft ran so deep by then that it was worth abandoning 90% of my games library. MacOS doesn't smack my mood around every damn day like Windows did. My peace of mind > video games.
And I _do_ get Baldur's Gate 3.

With those garage door drives the 'groan' (as I thought of it) was pretty quiet. On the Duo Disk Drive it was louder than a car horn. Made using the computer in off-hours impossible because I'd wake my parents up.
Never knew there was an advantage to it. Another great early Apple trivia bit.

I've wanted to play that, but I read the battles are no longer turn-based. I like to relax while gaming these days. How intense is the combat?

Yeah that's the only way I keep it on the level sometimes. Read about people in Gaza and suddenly it's not so bad where I am.

Could be worse. She could discover that she has 'nothing' to wear for the opera, and needs to buy a new dress.... hopefully she doesn't see this. Wouldn't want to give her any ideas. 😆

Heh, I didn't know there was another "The Trip" til I hit imdb. Really cranked my cogs to think there was a TV show of the 1967 LSD classic.

One more. I took hi-res scans of a huge geode slice my family has had for decades, destroyed by the family cat. Hard to conceive of how long it took to make this art, only to be destroyed by a cat.

You have been freed, m'lord. The Guardian hasn't a chance now.

Never knew for certain... did you voice that character in Ultima 9? I always assumed you did, and that it was a sorta meta joke since (I assume) you didn't voice Lord British in the game. The guy in the dungeon _IS_ the real Lord British!

Hopefully they're just off for the holidays. Supposedly only 20 people work for Bluesky currently. But without a FUNCTIONAL ability to determine fake accts, their wrong _action_ is hard to excuse.
Yo @bsky.app @safety.bsky.app @support.bsky.team! @richardgarriott.bsky.social is legit!

Yeah, makes you question their process. The only possible way they made that decision was they checked your Twitter account and tried to find a mention of your Bsky account. But if it wasn't that, who made the decision? And what's the criteria?

That or they rolled a natural 1 on their Investigation roll.

You're too kind. This doesn't just make me question it, it makes me lose all faith in it. As you say, a label like that only shows up because Bluesky supposedly investigated and confirmed the acct was false. But given the evidence presented here, Bluesky's entire vetting process is bogus.

Yeah, I read El Niño was supposed to make 2024 a cooler year. ... if THAT was a cooler year... yikes.

I also recall it being mentioned that, because you could go N, W, S, and then E and not be where you started, even graph paper maps had limited practicality. You had to map it in your mind.
Given my mind these days that's a recipe for disaster. 😂

You were fortunate. I understand there's a charm to those text games that can't be found in games with graphics. I started in 1985 with Ultima IV, so whenever I'd play something like Zork I'd become almost instantly bored.
It was too short a stage in video game evolution.

Whew. Thought you deleted your account. For some reason searching for you yields no names. "TOP" and "LATEST" show people talking about RG, but no People account..

Hehe... that's how I made this. Bought Art of Atari and scanned parts of it.
