The Alexa voice seems more human-like to me than the Apple or kindle. I also found it helps to listen while I’m driving or on a walk, I’m less bothered by the AI quality of the voice that way

I just started using the assistive reading feature through the Amazon Alexa app- she will read your kindle book to you! Truly life changing

Thanks! I’m generally familiar with his work but will look more closely for anything about that overlap

Excellent take I appreciate it! So much of research is about how you interpret the same data— why our lives experiences are so important 🙌

He is incredibly lucky to have a parent like you to guide and support him in navigating the world! Would love to see more of us thriving in adulthood after being raised in affirming spaces. Maybe someday

It’s becoming a super common experience I think as we broaden our understanding of neurodivergence beyond the super limited medical descriptions & stereotypes.
My mom the other day: “so what, you think we’re all autistic?”
Me: “um… yeah” 🤪

Ha fair… probably using “think about” would have been more precise here rather than “notice” 🥲

Ooh I think notice might not have been a super precise word here- I guess more “think about” or “consider”
Also super relate to being late identified. It’s a big realization and I’m still about myself too

I feel like it’s way more obvious if you’re in the club 🥰

I love this so so much. Seeing kids, teens, anyone really just click based on “the ways” (as I call it) is such a joy because you know how good it feels and makes them feel to be seen and accepted as your most authentic self 🧡

Also feel like I must disclaimer that neurodivergence is much more than just autism or adhd and plz don’t come for my general Saturday morning musings… so many of us are multiply disabled and it is remarkable to see how these characteristics play out in our supports and chosen pairings with others

That’s very sneaky if true. Feeling like there should be a big peer review database that everyone can access to solve these issues. Tracking who has completed reviews and when?

The audio book was truly incredible I don’t know how long it would take me to get through the written version.
Also only so much of that content you can absorb at a time, and in certain brain states (for me)

It didn’t used to be as a student but I’ve heard that editors are reaching out to trainees because there is such a (seeming) dearth of reviewers. It’s good practice for your writing, too, but quickly becomes a big time suck

I have started saying no much more. Asking myself if the content is something I have particular expertise in and would contribute a unique perspective. And yet here we are still 🫣

Turns out I might not actually be pursuing an editor position anytime soon 🥲🥲
Seriously though it’s tough out there on all sides.

Yes a good point. The kicker is that I’ve submitted to at least one of these journals and not had a manuscript accepted. But once you’re in their system…. This happens

I love this take! I listened to Neurotribes on audio book but would love to go back through it in writing.

Somehow becoming “more autistic” after identifying as autistic just feels right these days
