I have something similar-- I know who they are when I go into write, but as I write their specific character becomes more clear.

I've definitely fallen in love with my supporting characters but I've never let them take over per se #momswritersclub

That's amazing! So did she stay as a supporting character at all or was she lifted entirely?
comment in response to post
OH YES. It's like an iceberg-- what ends up on the page is just a small bit of what I know about my character. But it's more like big events and family history and emotional state, less favorite ice cream flavors and dream vacations (although sometimes I know those too lol) #momswritersclub

Adult historical and middle grade fiction 😊

Ooh, good question! I think it’s easiest to create supporting characters, probably bc it’s later in the process! Your whole world is there, your premise is set, main characters have arcs, and supporting characters kind of organically grow from that. #momswritersclub

Hi #momswritersclub, I’m Hanna, mom of two here in NYC. My first middle grade novel recently found a home at Feiwel & Friends (yay!) and I’m now in the editing stage which is exciting!

At 11 weeks I was not writing!!! Hats off to you!! But as they got a little older, I tried writing in little spurts here and there… lots of brainstorming happening on my phone notes app!!
